If you are trying to lose weight you are probably either on one end of the spectrum or the other. You either tell the whole world that you’re going to lose weight, or you don’t say a word to anyone and just go on a diet.

Keeping your weight loss mum could be a good thing. Some research has shown that those who zip their lips and keep quiet about trying to lose weight tend to have a better shot at being successful than their counterparts.

Why You Should Blog About Your Weight Loss

One of the most important reasons why you should blog about your weight loss is because it will keep you accountable for your actions. When you post a daily journal about how you are making through your weight loss plan, you’ll probably be less likely to stumble and fall. And when you do mess up (because we all do), you’ll be much more likely to get back up again and make a new, improved plan for yourself.

Keeping a blog about your weight loss can be extremely helpful in other ways, too. You’ll find a lot of support through your comments section. You’ll probably also hear weight loss stories from many of your readers. You’ll essentially be building a weight loss community where you can listen as well as be heard.

The Up-Side of Blogging While Losing Weight

If you keep a blog while you lose weight, you might discover that your blog becomes a source of distraction. Writing about your weight loss struggles can divert your attention from eating when you’re low. It can give you something to do during the times when you desperately want that late night snack or high-calorie treat.

Blogging about your weight loss can also give you a nice, detailed diary of what you’re doing right and what you’re doing wrong. It can point out obvious things you need to work on or change. After a period of time, you can read back through previous blog entries and take note of your high days and the low ones. You will be able to pinpoint what triggers you to want to binge.

Things You Can Write About In Your Weight Loss Blog

If you want to start a weight loss blog but aren’t really sure where to begin or what to write, here are some tips to get you on a fast start:

  • Write about your weight loss goals.
  • Write about what you’re struggling with that day.
  • Ruminate on what could be causing you to want to eat more.
  • Post weekly weigh-in entries to stay accountable.
  • Post your personal favorite healthy recipes.
  • Share links to important weight loss news or information.
