Sharpie Black Marker Pens

The black Sharpie markers are one of the best art markers out there, I use them all of the time to fill in large black areas on drawings and they have a quality to them that make them appear more darker like indian ink, but they have a permanence which looks quality when you apply the Sharpie ink on paper.

The grip on these marker pens are okay, although for the serious artist they may need some form of rubber grip in the future, but if you felt like it, you could thicken the grip with masking tape, but this is only a minor quibble as these are my favourite art markers, in fact, I use these alot for my finished drawings to fill in black areas and for logos and lettering.

You may find if you use these Sharpie black markers that the round packs below from amazon may suit you best, they come in packs of 36, which can last a few weeks at least.

The chisel tip Sharpie markers are also a neat addition to your sharpie pen range as they give a thick calligraphy like quality to your drawing strokes which better suit writing and also filling in large black areas, but with the chisel tip markers you can choose to draw with the thick end or the tip of the chisel like fibre tip, so that adds a little more variety to the weight of your drawings and sketches.

Black aren't the only colours Sharpie does....

Sharpie Marker Colour Range

Black is a top Sharpie Marker colour, but other colours that Sharpie do are some of the brightest colours that you can use to colour in your drawings and are very useful for doing colour profiles of any drawing, I use them for tattoos and characters drawings to test the colours to see if they work on photocopied best drawings that have been inked, this way I can colour the same drawing in varying colours to see what works better.

The colour range

Navy Blue

Light Blue

Green

Yellow

Red

Orange

Purple

Note* The Fine Point Markers from Sharpie have more of a color range, if you want to experiment with extra colors and shades of marker ink, then a possible mix of these and the regular markers will be better.

These are all of the basic colours you really need and if you combine them with some coloured pencils, you can add different shades to your thick Sharpie marker pen work, see the new Halloween blog header I created with Sharpie markers and crayola coloured pencils below in the video as an example and you can hear my son shout Daddy Daddy Daddy!! doesn't he realize I was busy...tut tut kids today!!.
