12 Week Blow Dry: For Frizzy Hair
What is the 12 Week Blow Dry?
The 12 week blow dry is a fabulous new hairdressing technique that gives you a salon-look, professionally blow-dry look for 12 weeks!
The 12 week blow dry is achieved by super-conditioning your hair, using very specialised products. Once you've had the 12 week blow dry, you no longer need to take a long time blow-drying and straightening your hair, you simply give your hair a quick dry with a hairdrier and it looks as good as new again! The 12 week blow dry gives you that just stepped out of the salon look instantly.
What is special about the 12 week blow dry?
Your hairdresser will use a keratin-based product, a naturally-occurring substance which makes up the majority of your hair, applying it section by section through your wild, tangled and dry, frizzy hair. You then leave the product in for two days, before washing it out. The 12 week blow dry product is a mixture of keratin, cocoa, vitamins from plants, red clay and a few other natural ingredients, so in the majority of cases it's completely safe to use.
12 Week Blow Dry By Other Names?
As the concept has evolved and developed in other countries, there have been various names associated with the 12 week blow dry. Other treatments might be slightly different (the 12 week blow dry is one specific method), but other similarly named treatements include:
- Permanent Hair Straightening
- Yukon
- Brazilian Keratin Treatment
- 3 Month Blow Dry
- Deep Breath
When Can you Wash Your Hair After a 12 Week Blow Dry?
The answer to this is something only your hairdresser can answer - they'll have your hair in their hands and know what products they're going to use - also, strangely, local weather can affect the behaviour of hair (if you live in a damp environment, or a dry/hot one). So ask the hairdresser when you can wash your hair after a 12 week blow dry before you book your appointment.
How Much Does a 12 Week Blow Dry Cost?
I hope you're sitting down now .... a 12 week blow dry will cost about £150-200, or €200-300, or $200-300. Prices will vary depending on your location, so you do need to investigate the prices at several salons to see if there are any savings to be made. The cost will alter depending on the length of your hair as well as where you have it done.
Sounds great - but what's the catch?
Well, if everything
did exactly what it said on the box we'd have nothing to moan about
would we.... but, is the 12 week blow dry really worth the high cost you
pay? I think the answer to this depends on how troublesome your frizzy hair is, how important it is for you to quickly be able to achieve a chic look, how deep your pockets are! Many celebrities already use this technique, but they've got deep pockets. If you're short on time in the mornings, but need to look neatly groomed then it could give you that extra boost of confidence at work, perhaps enough to mark you out for your next promotion. Or maybe you just love the look without the effort and that's priceless!
How Long Does a 12 Week Blow Dry Take?
To apply the product doesn't take that long, it'll take about two hours to apply the keratin-based product and then your hair is dried straight. The issues then come when you have to leave it alone for two days - no tying your hair up, no twisting it around, no tucking it into a scrunchie or even popping it behind your ears. This means youu might have to plan your visit well, when you've not got any social events in your diary, nor any stressful times when you might be tempted to play with your hair.
Can I Go Out in the Rain?
One of the issues with normal straightening of your hair, is that as soon as you go out in the rain, or in humid weather, it literally explodes back to its natural frizzy state and all your straightening efforts are lost. With the 12 week blow dry though, it won't go frizzy in the rain! So that's a giant leap for womankind! ... although I'm sure it'll be a great leap forward for mankind too once they see what it's doing for women!
All you need to do to return your hair to that salon-fresh look is to give it a quick blast with a hairdrier again!
