Cheap Earlets and Ear Plugs
Stretched Ears
If you have stretched ear piercings or plan on stretching your piercings you want to make sure that you know how to do so properly. The following jewelry is not appropriate stretching jewelry. You want to always stretch with stainless steel jewelry, as steel is a non-porous material that will not harbor bacteria that can potentially irritate and infect your piercing.
If you have a fully healed piercing, on the other hand, you can use the following materials and jewelry in your piercing, as you are not dealing with a fresh wound that can become infected.
When searching for body jewelry, consider silicone, glass or pyrex, wood and organic, and acrylic jewelry. You can also find titanium, gold, and blackline jewelry.
What Size Plugs Can You Buy?
Even if you have small gauge plugs, you can still find small gauge plugs. So you don't have to have a large gauged piercing, you can find plugs and tunnels in various materials for smaller guages as well.
I want to say that you can find plugs and earlets for 10 gauge and up. You may be able to find smaller gauge plugs, but I want to say the average is at least a 10 gauge, which is pretty small in comparison to other gauge sizes.
Flexable Silicone Ear Plugs
One of my favorite styles of jewelry include silicone based jewelry. They are lightweight and simple to put in. Just squeeze and pop in.
The larger the gauge, the easier it will be to pop in the silicone plug, as there will be more give to the material, but that does not mean that smaller gauges cannot wear silicone.
I want to say that the smallest silicone plug that I've seen is a 6 gauge.
You can find silicone tunnels in various colors including black, white, blue, orange, pink, yellow, red, and green.
Pyrex Plugs
Glass plugs come in a variety of styles. You can find tones of solid colors and patterns. My favorite are the dichro designs, which come in a variety of colors such as purple, dark blue, light blue, sliver, green, and a few others; although, there aren't very many colors to choose from, the way the dichro is created when the light hits it you'll see a variety of colors.
Otherwise, you can find glass ear plugs with swirls and patterns, where one color glass was used as a base and another used to make the designs.
You can find faceted glass plugs, which like the dichro designs, give an extra shine when the light hits the jewelry.
Pyrex plugs are generally lightweight and easy to wear.
Acrylic Jewelry
Acrylic body jewelry comes in a variety of colors and patterns, so you are bound to find something that you like. These are also great if you're one who likes to match your accessories with your outfit.
You can find acrylic ear plugs in a double flared style so that you can avoid wearing O-rings, otherwise you can find acrylic plugs in a bullet style where you'll need O-rings to hold them in your ear.
If you prefer the O-ring style plug, you can find O-rings in various colors, and they're easy to replace.
