Mens Pyjamas

The Biggest Comeback Since Baby Doll Dresses

Johnny Depp wears them...and so does 50 Cent, Larry David and Clive Owen, Yes folks...on the catwalks of Paris, Milan and Pakistan men's pyjamas are creating a fashion cyclone. Or they would be if this was actually true. It might be, I don't know...frankly I haven't picked up a Vogue since my last dental appointment.

In truth though, we shouldn't be slaves to the fashionista and it's better to be a trend setter than a follower...so if pyjamas aren't in vogue we should bring them back.

Here's why...

Sleeping naked has it's good points but let's face it if you're not in the throes of a passionate affair or have been married for longer it takes for lust to fizzle out...what's the point? Might as well be comfy and cosy in your PJ's while you're curling up with that good book or watching TV. Besides, for truly mysterious allure you can't go past a pair of cool cotton PJ's. They've come a long way since those daggy, baggy, corded things your Grand-dad used to shuffle down the hall in and was always perilously close to popping out of.

For extra style in warmer weather discard the top and let your six-pack compliment the elasticized waist of the bottoms or team them with a crisp white singlet. Perfect for lounging around in and it means you're always presentable if someone knocks on the door late late night or you find yourself at the receiving end of an impromptu police raid. There's nothing more embarrassing than having to hit the floor with a police baton resting on the back of your head and your naked behind in the air.

There's something very manly about men's PJ's...in a Rock Hudson, Cary Grant kind of way.

Classic Pyjamas

My personal favourite, the 'classic' pyjama style never really dates...the classic striped or piped pyjama has a kind of vintage charm.

You say pajama, I say pyjama...

The British Raj is responsible for introducing the word 'pyjama' or 'pajama', depending on where you live, to the West and it was taken from the Hindustani. ..paijama, the style having originated in Asia. The contemporary pyjama is the result of a melding of cultures and became popularised in the 20th century. Prior to that most men wore nightdresses to bed, sometimes even with a cap.

Funky Laid-Back PJ's

As a woman, I can tell you quite sincerely it's oddly comforting to lie in bed next to a man in pyjamas. It gives us a nice, secure feeling; perhaps harking back to those childhood memories of warm baths and cups of cocoa.

These sexy and stylish bottoms with built in pseudo underpants trim, compliment the active man on the go...available in bright or neutral colours they are fun, versatile and can be slipped off in a flash if the need arises.

Fully machine washable

For the Spiritual Guy

Be your own style guru in these exotic Asian inspired two-piece pyjamas. Loose and comfortable, these would be an easy fit for the man who has reached a higher level of consciousness. Easy to relax, meditate and swan about in.

Fully washable. 100% cool and breezy cotton. Environmentally sustainable.

I hope these models were well paid

Perhaps...not

As wonderful as pyjamas are in the main, there are some pitfalls you will need to avoid.

Because of the extreme cosiness factor, you may be tempted to purchase the all-in-one fleecy jumpsuit pyjama, but believe me, unless you are a hermit, live in an extremely cold climate or love to be controversial, best avoid these. The giant toddler look is not appealing in any way, shape or form. I think there could also be some hygiene issues.

However, I do realise these things are subjective and if you choose to ignore my advice and simply have to have them, here are the links. They made be handy for novelty value or if you are in the situation where you need to alienate someone close to you.

Alternatively, buy them as a special christmas gift for someone you despise. That obnoxious, tightwad uncle or smug brother-in-law perhaps. It might be worth it to see the expression on their face.

Obviously men who purchase these never expect to have sex again.

Men's PJ's for Women

How many times in a movie have we seen the leading lady, having been inadvertently caught without her overnight bag in a man's apartment, slip into his pyjama top? Ever noticed how sexy, flattering and adorable they look...? So don't buy them just for him...

Yes, ladies and gentlemen; the convenience, lasting appeal, comfort and value of mens pyjamas just cannot be overstated.
