Garden Birds of South Africa – Southern Boubou
Description
A pictorial introduction to birds in and around a suburban South African garden with particular reference to the Western suburbs of Johannesburg and Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens.
I have attempted to source reference of the eggs and various egg colours wherever possible.
Southern Boubou (Laniarius ferrugineus)
- FOOD: Mainly insects. Also snails, earthworms, small reptiles
- HABITAT: Dense vegetation
- NEST: Well hidden bowl shaped nest in dense vegetation
- Boubous are secretive and can usually be seen in dense undergrowth looking for insects and grubs.
