Recently, while I was searching the internet looking for personalized gifts, I happened upon something that I thought was quite unique and beautiful. It is called Alphabet Art Photography. It is a very creative way of photographing everyday objects that look like letters of the alphabet and then taking those photos and putting them together to form very unique looking words or names. This obviously would make for a nice personalized gift, though some of the sites I visited had prices far above what I could afford to pay. This and my creative spirit led me to try taking my own photos and putting them together to form my name. It was quite an experience and one I may continue doing.

I started by looking around my apartment for objects that resembled letters, not finding much I decided to create an L out of one of my gold necklaces. The photo turned out pretty nice I thought, even though it wasn't a natural everyday object.

As I ventured outside my apartment I found more "letters" on walls, doors and even in the parking lot ! This was fun and I was hooked!

As was driving over to my daughter's house I found myself looking at everything with different eyes, trying to find more alphabets. Once Inside her house, I found a bountiful supply of all different shapes of letters on her laundry room curtains and her metal victorian bed frame. She thought I had completely lost it when I excitedly whipped my camera out and began taking pictures saying I had found the perfect "e" for my name!

Then, my grand-son wanted me to take him to the thrift store," yes", I said, thinking that would be a great opportunity to look for more letters ! I am sure the people who saw me taking pictures in there really wondered about my sanity! I did find a couple of useful letters though.

Since then the excitement did wear off some, but I was able to gather a few more letters here and there on various trips , enough at least to make up my name, which I think turned out pretty nice even though it's not what could be called professional, I enjoy it and I plan to frame it and hang it up in my home. I may even make some other ones for friends.. They would certainly be unique and personal gifts.

If you enjoy photography and are looking for a creative and fun pastime this would certainly be something to try.

Or...if you would just like to make up your own name or word by ordering professionally online I have some links listed below that I think are worth checking out.
