How to Crochet a Granny Square
Granny squares are one of the most popular ways to crochet. Many of us started out crocheting our first project using a granny square.
The reason the granny square is one of our favorites is that it is easy to crochet, can be used in a variety of projects, and the patterns are endless.
Whether you are new to crochet or have been crocheting for years, finding new ways to use granny squares can be fun and interesting.
Granny squares can be made in any size or gauge.
They can be crocheted using any type of yarn or crochet hook but be sure to choose what is best for the project you are creating. Remember you are working in rounds so it is best to choose a yarn you enjoy working with and can view well.
Granny squares can be made in solid colors or you can use a choice of a variety of yarns or a variegated yarn. Be sure to use the same fiber content if you will be changing colors. Cotton yarns should be worked with other cotton yarns and acrylic yarns with acrylic. Do not mix and match.
