My Manga Drawings Hub

Updated on June 29, 2012

Suzi

This is my character Suzi, I drew her in a different style then I usually do... a very simplistic style. I didn't focus on the facial features very much... again very simplistic.

This was really exciting to draw, I really enjoyed it! I loved picking out the colors and patterns, this is also the first time I attempted a pose suggesting movement like this.

I have always loved standing in the rain while holding your little shelter above your head, you know an umbrella... you can hear the rain drops hitting the roof of the umbrella and see the streams of rushing water fall from the shelter above your head.

The streets become glossy and start to shine and shimmer, now reflecting any light that is around.. placing colors on the ground from stop lights and restaurant signs. A cool breeze blows in, and you can literally smell the rain pouring down around you, hear each drop hit a surface and making a noise pronouncing the fact that it has arrived. Y

ou can feel the couple of rain drops hit your skin and the refreshing touch of coolness. The air gets cleaned when it rains, and you can taste the left over mist in the air.. waiting to settle to the ground below when the storm finally ends.

I love gentle rain storms like that, they are inspiring and beautiful.

Kelly And Scruffy

This is my origanal character Kelly with her fat lazy cat Scruffy. This is after I redesigned Kelly to fit my style now. The anatomy on this drawing is better then I was doing for the time I drew it but not great all things considered... the anotmy flaws are obvious.

I like drawing her hair, especially the shines it was fun! This would be when I started adding outlines to my drawings... although I don't add the extra outline to my drawings all the time, used in the right way on the right drawing it really can accent thedrawing in a way to make it pop out better, define better, but that all depends on the drawing it's self.

Somedrawings if they had an extra outline added would be overdone and look way to cluttered in detail. I never thought it was possible to detail a drawing to much... until I did it... putting in too much detail can be an eye strain and lower the appeal of the drawing it's self no madder how good the art is. This was done with Sharpies and colored pencils.

A Thoughtful Walk...

This drawing was never taken past the pencil stages, although I liked it... I never finished it.

The whole scene was a guy walking down the street,, trying desperately to clear his head and make sense of a situation that was bothering him. Kind of a stupid look across his face really completed the scene for me.

The anatomy flaws taunt me again, the shoes.. are not positioned in a way I would today to show him walking. The clothes were a favorite for me.

I loved drawing them.... I'm especially a sucker for a patch on the knee of the jeans, I always have been drawing them that way since I was really young. For me the patch shows them being a person.... little things that humanize them. T

he patch on the knee also has always been a creative little touch that I add to so much of my work.. a little bit of discoloration from the rest of the fabric.

My Oh My Oh Valentines!

This is a valentines drawings I did this year... I spent hours looking at pictures poses, and thinking howthis would look trying to get the anatomy just right. Although I didn't et it as nice as I would have liked I did succeed in doing a better job then I usually did.

Ears was definatlly a BIG challenge for me then, as you can see in my work. I never was big itno Valentines day, it seemed like a holdiday designed fortrouble, tears and major moeny spending... and although I still hold the major money spanding I've leanred that Valentines day can be a good holiday too... even if it's not a big deal to me. I spent a lot of time drawing and erasing this over and over again I finally settled with the result you see here today... this drawing was never taken past the pencil stages.

My Miki Falls!

This drawing was done a day or two before Christmas I thik, I had been wishing that I had put Miki Falls a manga on my Christmas list... So here's the little girl walked in while wrapping presents was going on and saw the little Miki Falls book!

The girl grabs it and starts reading it, when her mom tells her that she wants to wrrap up the book and she can open it tomorrow... which the girl doesn't seem to happy about at all!

Miki Falls, at least the first book is an exellent story! My mate from the UK got me a copy for my birthday... she's awesome! :) I can't wait to find out what happens next in book 2 Miki Falls: Summer.
