Who is Joshua Millage?
I was born and raised in Fishers, Indiana. Growing up I always seemed to find myself traveling, creating art and starting businesses.
In 7th grade my parents encouraged me to go on a missions trip to Nicaragua. Little did they know that I would find myself in the middle of a drug battle and get Dengue fever, a deadly tropical virus from mosqitoes. Think malaria on steriods.
At this point in my life I realized the world was much different than the US and sparked a passion, more like an addiction, to go and explore more of this incredible planet.
The following year my guitar playing was rapidly improving and I started taking photos like crazy. Both outward expressions of art led to more travel. My study of photography taking me to England, Scotland and Ireland and the band I was in toured across the US and to central Europe.
During this time I attempted to start various businesses, but because of my lack of knowledge I ened up in ponzi schemes, pyramid scams and other shady ways of making money. However, I kept persisting and taking note of what worked and what didn’t. I hit the first jack pot when I figured out how to buy and sell paintball guns online. I would buy broken guns, refurbish them and then sell them on eBay. I look back and laugh because if that business would have been successful I might have pursued a career as a international arms dealer (joking). Thank God eBay changed some policies and crushed my profitability.
When it was time to pick a college I knew that I had to get out of the midwest. I chose to jump ship and head west to Azusa, CA (Los Angeles) to attend Azusa Pacific University. I started out in marketing, but quickly switched to international business when I realized that it would mean more travel. I ended up taking a semester and studying in at Oxford University and also spending time at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. After coming back from China I knew that I had to return. I was completely mezmerized by the country, people and culture.
After school I took a job in Sanya, China where I am currently helping a snow ski company with branding and social media. I am still feeding my addtiction of travel, music and entreprenuership. This blog is an outlet for these experiences and experiments. My goal is to create a space where people can interact and learn how to make big moves to achieve the lifestyle that they want. A lifestyle that brings them fullfillment and purpose.
