Who Me?

I Couldn't Believe it!

This is a story about what could happen in a split second... for the good! It started out that we were going to visit my grandparents in Florida. My brother and his family were traveling with us from New York. Everyone, (except me,) thought it would be a good idea to stop at Disney World, so my nephew could see Mikey, for the first time.

As we traveled through Virginia, bad weather hit. There was a lot of snow that week. We got past it and the caravan, (of two cars, )cheerfully traveled down I-95. As we went through each State, it got warmer and warmer. We started to take off coats, sweaters and gloves, until we were all in tee-shirts and shorts. Our first stop was at St. Augustine, Florida. That was a treat because Rob Lowe was filming a movie there and we got to meet the crew! That in itself was a memory to behold. The next day we went to Disney World.

This is where it got interesting. As I was paying for the rooms and getting the keys to our rooms, the cashier told me that I won a three day stay at the hotel with all sorts of goodies attached. It only cost us $100 for 5 to stay at the hotel for two nights. This couldn't have come at a better time. My husband just went into business and the phone had not rung for any business for a few weeks. He installed windows and doors and no one wanted that kind of work done in the winter. We only had a little over $300 and didn't plan to stay more than one night at Disney World.

We bought tickets to Epcot Center and as my husband, (the gentleman that he is...) handed me my ticket... Bells and sirens went off! As I was entering to go into Epcot I asked the woman who took half of my ticket... "What was going on?" She told me, "Oh, you won a hat or a pin." I was excited to get one of those Mouse Ear Hats that I saw on the Mickey Mouse Club show, when I was a kid. So I told her... "Oh, I always wanted one of those hats!"

Mickey and Me.

All of a sudden, Mickey came up to me and handed me a Big Key! I handed it back to him. Then he gave it to me and his white gloves were waving towards the car, which I didn't see. As I was asking him... "Where's my Hat?" TV cameras and a news reporter came up to me and asked how I felt about winning? Then I heard my brother yell... "She won a Car!"

We all were in the Parade for Disney World's 15th Year Anniversary. The strange part was that we just bought our first new car... three weeks before I won the car! I ended up giving the car to my sister who had three small children and was driving around in a car with baloney skin tires. And you know what... That car is still running, after 24 years!

Until we meet again... Francesca27
