Earlier this month, the world woke up to news that Sundar Pichai had been appointed as the new CEO for Google. The appointment is effective upon the completion of the planned restructuring that will see the formation of Alphabet Inc, a conglomerate for the Google company family.

Google will be a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc under the leadership of Larry Page and Sundar Pichai will take over as the new CEO of Google.

Sundar Pichai's Background

Born Pichai Sundararajan, Pichai is a 43 year old technology expert of Indian origin. He was born in 1972 in India. His mother was a stenographer and his father an electrical engineer.

He credits his interest in technology to his father who worked at General Electric Company and from time to time shared with him the experiences and challenges he faced at work.

In early years, he studied at Jawahar Vidyalaya School and Vana Vani School for his class X and class XII respectively. For undergraduate studies, he earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP).
