HubPages is the Best Business Partner

Updated on May 6, 2015

My Grandfather always told me to get my education because "they can never take that away from you." I was very young and didn't understand what he was talking about. After a very successful career, I learned firsthand what he was talking about. After years of hard work, building a department, revamping general ledgers, integrating various software programs, working on SQL to compile meaningful numbers, I was quickly disheartened when I heard the work that I created was now NOT just assumed by another person but that new person was taking credit for the excellence in reporting that I had carefully crafted and created with the members of my staff and fellow department heads. Has this ever happened to you?

Rejection hurts but losing something that you crafted, created and built is more akin to a death. You are no longer connected to that project. While I love many things about Hub Pages, this is the one single item that I love best about Hub Pages.

The many joys of Hub Pages are marked by the learning, the journey, the various small steps and accolades, the relationships with the Hubbers from around the globe. However, after a long and successful career, I am most enamored with 1.) the training and education provided and 2.) the continuity of ownership.

For me, I delight in pulling up the 250 Hubs I have created. But these Hubs would not be a delight IF they did not have a strong foundation. For you see Hubs are like a tree. The tree is only as glorious above the ground as it is with extensive roots holding firmly in the ground. The roots of great Hubs are built upon knowledge and continuity. Content is king.

My Grandfather always told me to get my education because "they can never take that away from you.

Great Root Structure of Hub Pages

What makes the root structure of Hub Pages so strong? What makes us better writers? How does Hub Pages partner with us to make us successful? Five factors:

  • Revenue sharing - writers earn 60% of revenue
  • Education and Training - Forums and Hubs
  • Easy to Use Software - Capsules, Recorder, Stats Reporting and more.
  • Great Support Staff
  • Loved by the Search Engines

With over 33 million viewers and growing daily, writer and readers alike know the value of partnering with HubPages.

Can you envision a business partner sharing 60% of revenue with you AND providing education and training? Add to the equation that this business partner provides all the software and programming.

My Journey - My Experience in the Partnership

My experience with HubPages is not typical. I wrote on subjects that apparently offended the chemical companies (fluoride and ammonia; additionally, I questioned corrosive pipes and if the time was arrived for second water supply). For the honesty of my writings, I offended someone enough to connect my real name with pornography and to disable and hack into my YouTube account. Thankfully for me, the Hub Pages staff came to my rescue and moved my Hubs. I lost all connections and fans, I probably lost valuable maturation time on the Internet but at least my legal name was safe. I created the pen name GmaGoldie to honor my Grandmother who essentially raised me.

In the midst of this, I was retained for marketing by an innovative company. The corporate Hub Pages site that I wrote upon has had over 2600 hits from Google and around the world and less than 300 from the website. The proof that HubPages is a powerful partner is shown clearly in that example. But don't take my word for it - take the word of 33 million visitors and growing daily!

Wikipedia reports that "[i]n May 2010, Hub Pages was recognized as one of the “2010 Hottest Silicon Valley Companies” by Lead411."

Lead411 is a membership based website that "provides news and information for sales professionals."

Traffic on Hub Pages and the Exponential Growth

As requested please find displayed in the capsule above my traffic from Hub Pages. for one of my accounts. As you will note, the mountain is climbing higher! And this is all without back links.

One of my past times is looking at the traffic and seeing all the international Google sites that have visited - wow! So many places, so many countries. What is neat, is I can click and go to that country's Google site and see what that specific country's Google screen looks like. I find it amazing that all of this at my fingertips. Isn't it astounding how the Internet brings the world to our desktop?

How Google's Panda Changed Blogging Profitability

Matt McGee detailed succinctly how Panda has changed the profitability of blogging in this article:

He goes on to graphically display what the Panda update meant for HubPages and provided this update:

"HubPages initially regained some of its visibility in the summer of 2011 when it started moving content to sub-domains. But that improvement has largely disappeared now."

Next Chapter for Blogging Will Be My Own Website in Tandum with HP

The ultimate in blogging is having your own site. However, this demands fees to host it, fees to craft it and the most expensive part is maintaining it. Maintaining the website is more than just hosting fees, maintaining a website means daily promotion. Yes, I said daily promotion. I have dallied in this regard because HP does the promotion for me.

One of the most wonderful things about HP is promotion. If you don't have advertising and marketing, every small business owner knows, the market will disappear. If you have a brick and mortar store, your advertising often is your traffic path and your physical exposure. Here out on the internet, you need a billboard (Twitter or Facebook) to promote your work.

While I plan on completing my own website, that website will serve to cross promote my work out here on HP.

Blogging for Many Will Not Mean Riches

The reality is this, unless you master SEO, are a great writer and dedicated, you most likely will never be wealthy from blogging. The statistics are against us. I have no dreams of the obtaining the fancy red racing convertible from HP or even my own self-hosted website. Don't get me wrong, it can happen but the percentage is simply too few and far between.

What is real is a fair pay over the years for something I just simply enjoy doing. I enjoy the challenge, I enjoy the people. But perhaps it more than that, perhaps it is I need a venue to learn and grow and feel that I am contributing.

Running Through the Tape with Blogging

A close business associate of mine, always details that the key to success in business is running through the tape. You know you are always running a race. Sometimes the race is just with yourself, sometimes with others, sometimes it is a real race where your sneakers hit the pavement. In any case, the race is only won if you run fast through the tape. This is the final leg of the journey that often people miss out on. For you see, all races test your endurance.

Running through the tape is more than just finishing what you started. Keep your eye on the finish line and push yourself to the limit for the final lap.

The goal here on HubPages is very simple, a consistent score of 100. Many have done it. It is achievable and HP will give you all the support you need. All you need is to expend the time and effort and of course, "run through the tape" each and every day.

Continued Commitment to HubPages

Unless the Internet goes away, my commitment to Hub Pages is here for the remainder of my life. HubPages is not just an earning site, HubPages is more than a career goal, it is truly is a community of fellowship which I value deeply.

HubPages As A Retirement Job

If you start as I did five years ago and continue on a steady path, you will find that when you do retire, you will have a built in part-time job - a job you can pick up anytime you choose. You set your own hours, you determine your vacation time, you choose the amount of effort. Isn't that a dream retirement job? That is what HubPages means to me.

For me, HubPages is not just a blogging site. HubPages is more than just a business partner, it is truly is a community of fellowship which I value deeply, a community that trains and educates me, motivates me and pushes me to be better than I am today. Together I can become better at writing, search engine optimization, social media, and charity. Together we are stronger and together we can learn from each other and create a new world, a world of friends that support each other to enrich science and human connectivity.
