Nigeria’s richest and most successful record label jointly owned by one of Nigeria’s richest entertainers, music producer Don jazzy and one of Africa’s finest music acts D’banj. The Mo’hits crew made up of the likes of Wande Cole, D’price, Dr Sid and Ikechukwu has made a lot of success with record sales in Nigeria despite the problem of piracy which many recording artistes dread. Besides record sales, the company also makes a lot of money from performances at parties, concerts, endorsements and other shows from which D’banj is one of the highest paid not just in the Nigerian entertainment industry but in Africa as a whole.
2. Square Records
Co-owned by successful twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye who are known more by their stage name Psquare, Square records perhaps is Nigeria’s most successful record selling music companies. Psquare remain the only artistes who sell more than 5 million copies of every of their released albums. The brothers also make a lot of money from performances. Their company is wholly devoted to them and they don’t sign on outsiders.
3. Storm Records
Storm Records is another top Nigerian record label jointly owned by Obi Asika and Olisa Adibua. It is another relatively successful record label company in Nigeria although not with record sales but with the caliber of artistes it has signed on. The likes of Sasha, Naeto C, GT the guitar man, Jazzman Olofin, Sauce kid and formerly Darey and Ikechukwu who used be on their label.
4. Kennis Music
The legendary Kennis Music record label company is one of Africa’s best music brands. It was Kennis music that managed the careers of 2face, Kelly Handsome, the Remedies, Olu maintain and Jaywon before they became superstars. At the moment is has signed on Goldie and still has some interesting acts such as essence, Kenny Saint Brown and Jaywon.
5. EMI Entertainment
The music project of Bankole Wellington (Banky W), this record label company makes a lot of sales from its records and has signed on to it its CEO, Banky W as well as Wizkid.
