THE POWER OF WHY IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Updated on October 26, 2010

Great leaders inspire everyone by this simple question "Why" to take action and achieve remarkable results. "Why" lets you think outside of the box and stand out ahead of the crowd. Inspiring people is not about how to do things and what to do, but it is about WHY to do. Know the power of the three letter word "WHY?"

WHY? - SOLVES YOUR PROBLEM FROM IT’S ROOT

Solving root causes by corrective action will avoid recurring non conformity. Whenever you have a nonconformity/defect in your business process, asking WHY leads you to the root cause. Most managers lack the skill of identifying the root cause. As a result they will only rectify the symptoms and not the cause. Your business can lose a lot when a correction is performed instead of a corrective action. Read Correction Vs Corrective Action

WHY - RESULTS IN FORMULATING EFFECTIVE PROCEDURES

Effective procedures are a key for business success. Your corrective action process will result in formulating effective procedures. Continual improvement can be achieved only if you have well written practical procedures.

WHY? THE CREATIVITY TOOL

Creativity keeps you abreast of competition and makes you shine among your customers. There is always a tendency that managers / employees limit their efforts for improvement due to fear, negative thoughts and experiences. This will lead to lack of creativity. You would not realize that your process could be done productive unless you "WHY" the process. Therefore throwing out the three letter word (Why) could stimulate creative ideas or thoughts to improve your productivity, service, delivery and so on.

Why? – LEADS TO CHANGE

Man is a habitual creature and they doesn't like to change. Its said "Only the wet baby likes a change". Therefore your employee would be happy to keep performing the same process over and over again. You will not discover a Change until you WHY your process

Why? LEADING THROUGH QUESTIONS

Leadership of the past was a person who told and the leadership of the future was the person who asks. Why ing the process provides a comprehensive practical knowledge which cannot be gained through books or reading. The process owner are more specialized about their job and would have creative ideas and feedback which can be easily brought out through questioning

CONCLUSION

WHY??? The three letter word if used effectively and appropriately, will lead to great ideas and innovation in your business. If you use “Why?” in a positive manner, it will turn out to be a fountain pouring out ideas and innovation which leads to continual improvement of your business process.Go ahead and lead through this powerful three letter word "WHY?"
