Why succession efforts fail?

There is no doubt that for a manager it is always good to work with an employee who has performed well in the past and is aligned to the larger culture of the organization. At HDFC Life, we have an inherent bias for HDFC alumni as people who have been with us earlier and have several examples of such talent. However, if things have ended on a bad note earlier for employees who have exited, rehiring them can get complicated and may not work out in the long run.
