Defining Your Success in Life
Have you ever felt lost? Hopeless? Totally without direction or focus in your life? Lots of people who feel cheated of success in their life feel just like this. Yet, they don’t know that a lack of success in life has led them to experience these awful feelings.
Dig Deep Within Yourself
If you’ve ever experienced these, or similar, feelings perhaps you should ask yourself if you feel like you are a success. Answer some of these questions for yourself:
- Have I achieved everything I’d hoped to by this time in my life?
- Am I satisfied with my career/job?
- What do I wish I could change about my life right now?
How do you feel, now that you’ve worked through some of these very personal questions? Are you feeling overwhelmed, shocked, or surprised? Maybe you have already uncovered some things you didn’t know about yourself. This is the beginning step in defining success for your life.
Define Personal Success
Now that we’ve worked through some tough questions, let’s take a closer look at just what success means to you. If you’ve never thought about this before, you might be somewhat nervous about even approaching this subject. Take a deep breath, then work through some more questions:
- What is your idea of a successful family?
- What would the atmosphere in your home feel like if you had the ideal home?
- If you had a successful career, what would that career be/look like?
- How would you feel deep down inside if you were a success?
- How does education play a role in your success?
Build Keystones
Personal keystones are at the very root of stability and structure in your life. Think of keystones as the foundation you will lay before building a house (your life). Now answer these final questions:
- What values are most important to you?
- What morals do you hold in high esteem for yourself and your family?
- If you were left bankrupt with nothing in this world, save one thing, what would that one thing be?
Looking at success, especially personal success, can become stressful and disheartening at times. It is important to remember that you are the one who holds the key to your own success. Live your life every day with full intent to become a successful person.
