Creative excuses for being late

Do you have kids?

If you have children, it's easy to create loads of stories about them for excuses of being late, such as:

- The kids wouldn't wake up.

- The childminder is late to pick up the kids.

- My baby dialed 999, and the police wanted to question me about what really happened. (the most creative one!)

But don't worry. You're not alone. Sixteen percent of workers say they arrive late to work at least once a week, according to a recent internet survey. One-in-four of all workers (25 percent) admit to making up phony excuses to explain their tardiness. The most uncreative excuse is blaming traffic. According to the survery, thirty-one percent of workers attributed their unpunctuality to traffic.

Thanks for the personal testimony! I WISH more employers would have on-site child care.

Actually, I can give you my real story. When I worked for a factory, I was late so often that the production manager interviewed me and sent me a written warning.

Both of us have to work, so a Childminder came to collect my daughter every morning, but she always complained the bad traffic,  because she came so late to collect my daughter, so I was late for work. The solution is I take my daughter to the factory and wait for the childminder outside the factory gate.
