First Article on HubPages

Updated on August 9, 2017

Is This Real

Am I excited? You bet! I will find out if this HubPage is a good way to let the world know that I’m on line and I get to write interesting, exciting mind-bending articles.

The whole world will see that I’m having the time of my life. I’m actually writing where anyone who has the internet has access to my opinion in life’s knowledge and experience. I am so amazed that a person - like me has the ability to be able to write and perhaps entertain you. I hope that I can share this joy and excitement to you and give you the encouragement to become more than you thought you could.

Getting Started

I am just getting started and am hoping that this HubPages will be what I think it is.

I will soon find out if it is the blockbuster, humdinger, corker, crackerjack, lullapalossa, knockout and last but not least ‘the cats pajamas’! If it is everything I think it is, the possibilities are unlimited and I can hardly wait to get started!

Five Days Ago

HubPages is something that I did not even know about until five days ago when I saw on the help wanted ads – writers needed.

Of course, they were looking for writers with great writing skills, language skills and with a bachelors degree, none of which I have. All I have is love of expressing myself through writing. I like the research and finding through searching the internet all those facts that I didn’t know. So much knowledge, so much information it’s just a little bit daunting and sometimes overwhelming, but always interesting.

Writing for Newspaper

I have been writing for our local Senior Newspaper articles on subjects that interest me and/or what was going on with our Center and hoping that they would interest others as well.

To my surprise, I found I had a following of people enjoying my articles and looking forward to more. I received positive feedback from many of these readers. To know that I could attract people to read what I write excites me and prodded me to do more articles.

You can imagine my excitement when I discovered HubPages! I believe they were made just for me. I have been awake for the last several nights lying in terror when my brain went completely blank. I couldn’t think of a single thing to write about!

I decided to sign up anyway, not knowing what to expect. Can I figure out how to do all this on-line stuff? I’m pretty good with computers but a complete novice concerning HubPages, internet stuff and how it all works. If there is anyone out there who can give me some good tips on what to do – I would love to hear from you. Please be kind and nice when you tell me.

Three Books

Yes, I have written three books.

I printed and published myself. Everyone who reads them - likes them. None of my books (so far) are fiction.

"Garden of Contentment" is a self-help book on how to become a positive person.

Available on line through "Kindle".

I tell why I wrote this and explain how you can become positive person day by day. Want more information? Watch for this on my HubPages under self-help.

My second book “Yes, Miracles Do Happen” is my journey through surviving two kinds of cancers.Non-Hodgkins Lymphomia in my right lungs, I wasn’t given much chance of survival and the second cancer “Warm Antibiody Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia” (AIHA) a rare disease. An autoimmune disease where my immune system decided that my red blood cells are the enemy and went out to destroy them. Our immune system is an amazing efficient system that does its job very well! In my book I explain what happens and what doctors had to do. I had excellent doctors, all my medical personnel were tops. Unfortunately my oncologist retired – whom will I go to next time I get cancer?

My third book is a cookbook dealing with “Substitutions of Herbs and Spices and Measurements” with a few sauces included. Look for my recipes and substitutions on my HubPages in the near future.

I enjoyed writing them. I kept a diary (my daughter suggested I keep one) when I had my cancers, I researched my positiveness and found the secret to becoming positive and decided I needed to share this secret with anyone who wished to make a change and become positive. My cookbook took the longest, I started it first, but the years of research delayed me finishing this. Life, cancer and writing my other books interfered - so it finished third. I found out by contacting publishers and agents no one was interested in them, me or my books. They are a tough lot and hard to crack and seem to be only interested in specific things, none of which I had. I decided not to mess with them anymore and printed them myself. Of course, I don’t have the advertising, the professionalism or any money. But, I received the enjoyment of accomplishing something that I wanted to do and it has given me a satisfied feeling.

Exceptional People

Exceptional people are people who live in a particular way that is extraordinary. These are ordinary people, who start out just like the rest of us, but believe or act in a way that shows what we are capable of. These are remarkable people going the extra mile. They achieve the unattainable and show us our world can be a better place.

One of the things that I want to do is promote people who are ordinary everyday people and show others why they are ‘exceptional people’. I’m not talking about movie stars, politicians, athletes or TV and radio personalities who are in the limelight, famous or gets paid mega bucks. I’m talking about people who we know and don’t think of as ‘exceptional’. These are our neighbors, friends or family that the media doesn’t know or care to write about who does something special for themselves or others and don’t think of themselves as ‘exceptional’.

These are the people who inspire the rest of us to excel, to do better, to pull ourselves up and try harder. These are people that no one says or tells them ‘they are heroes’. These are people we should be admiring and trying to be like, instead of those people who think they are something special and get paid mega bucks just because they are pretty/handsome, have money or power.

I will be writing biographies on people who I believe are our countries ‘exceptional people’. If anyone reading this knows someone who qualifies for this honor, let me know. This is one of my greatest enjoyments – writing about people who deserve to be honored and sharing their story of who, what, why, when and where they are now. I’m hoping and encouraging them to share their story with the world.

I am not restricting this to one country. Every country has heroes.

They have to fit certain requirements.

1. Never recognized as a hero.

2. Be an ordinary person, no movie stars, athletes, TV or radio personalities,

3. Never honored and/or never told their story.

4. Has not been featured in a magazine or given medals for their life or deeds.

5. They don’t think of themselves as ‘exceptional’.

I will need their name, email, address, phone number and why you think they should be one of our honored ‘heroes’.

We must have hundreds of thousands of people who have never been honored or written about. Are you as excited about this as I am? Want to help? Who is your hero? Let me know who you pick and why.

Now that you know what I am going to write about and keep my HubPages humming, I hope you will enjoy what you read. I hope that maybe you will be inspired. I do appreciate your feedback.

I will not justify or answer back why someone is considered a ‘hero’, it’s enough to have ‘someone’ in this world thinking they are. They should inspire you to do your best, try not to criticize or tell me why you think someone else deserves this honor. Instead tell me someone you think should be honored and why.

I hope you will follow my stories and information. I write about what inspires me. I hope you have a joyful experience and an interesting time reading.
