These Things I Love
Some Things Make Life Special
There are some things, little things, that really enrich life. I love these little things, in fact just thinking about them makes me smile.
I don't know if the same things will make you feel happy, but check out my page and see how the following makes you feel.
Don't forget to mention the things you love in the guestbook at the end.
I Love Soft Kitty Cuddles
I Love a Fresh Box of Crayons
Sharp tips and bright colors, just waiting for you to pick them up and start coloring.
I Love Organized Pantries
The idea of food, lovingly prepared for storage, that one can just walk right in and get is such a soothing thing. Especially when combined with something else I love, organization.
I'd love to reach a point where no matter what's going on in the outside world, there is always plenty for any guests and family at my house.
I Love Organizers
I absolutely love things each having a place and being in that place! Organizers are a bit of an obsession for me.
I Love Basements, Cellars, and Attics
I love even just the idea of basements, cellars, and attics.
Perhaps because I've never lived in a place with any of these things, I love the idea of a place for storage and a place to put stuff, whether Christmas ornaments and old clothes or root vegetables and canned goods.
Attics, basements, and cellars always seem like wondrous dusty places for rediscovering things forgotten and as such I've long dreamed of buying a house that turns out to have an attic full of random junk collected over the years.
I Love Storms
Electricity in the air, the feel of a storm moving over the mountains, winds buffeting you.
I love storms and the way they make everything feel fresh and new.
I Love Sitting Inside on a Cold Day
I Love a Cup of Hot, Sweet Tea
I Love Soft, Cozy Sweaters
I love to burrow down into really soft, cozy sweaters and having something luxurious against my bare skin.
Soft and Cuddly Blue Sweater
I Love Cuddling and Reading by the Fireplace
There's nothing as soothing as cuddling and reading by the fireplace on a cold winter day.
I Love Strong, yet Sweet Men
I love good men. Men who understand that their strength doesn't mean they should take advantage of or hurt those weaker than them, but instead should use that strength to take care of and protect them.
Kitten Cuddle
I Love Cute Little Quails
I Love Fall Colors
I Love Mystery
I Love Smooth, Soft and Clean Sheets
There is nothing like the feeling of slipping your body between a set of smooth, soft and clean sheets after a long day. Then cuddling up in them on a cold day just feels so luxurious.
Depending on the season, I change what types of sheets I want, warm, soft Egyptian cotton for winter, smooth satin for summer.
I Love Luxuriating on Soft Satin Sheets
I Love Freshly Laundered Clothes
Clothes that are fresh from the laundry, especially fresh for the dryer or clothesline are so wonderfully fresh smelling and clean that I love them.
I Love Nutella
Mmm, Nutella *drool* :)
The taste of hazelnuts and chocolate is absolutely delicious, especially spread of a nice piece of toast or baked into cookies. Or really, straight out of the jar.
I Love Sitting Around a Fire with Friends
I love camping, especially at the end of the day when we all sit around the campfire and reminisce and share.
It reminds me of the thousands of years humans of all sorts have done the same thing.
I Love Natural Beauty
I Love Trees
Trees are amazing.
They grow in the oddest places, struggle against such harsh odds, and just their existence is so surprising when you think of just how complicated they are.
Trees provide food, shade, and comfort.
When I feel sad and depressed, there is nothing that is as soothing as as walking through a forest.
I Love Books
Books are full of magical lands and wondrous animals, all waiting to be discovered. I absolutely love books and the places they take me, and would spend every day living through their pages if I could.

- What Is On My Bookshelf
Picking a favorite book is far too difficult for me because I love so many books. If you love books as well, read on and maybe you'll see a few you should read and maybe love as well.
I Love Mountain Lakes
I Love Cute Little Cat Tongues
There's just something adorable and charming about a kitty sleeping or relaxing with just the tip of their tongue hanging out.
They look so at peace and content with just the tip of their tongue protruding.
I Love Falling Snow
I Love the Smell of Leather
I love the unique smell of leather.
The scent of it is so thrilling deep inside me.
I Love Wide, Open Land
Land means openness and freedom to me.
I'm not a fan of cities, I'd love to live in the country and enjoy the sense of life around me.
I Love Camping
I Love Fruit Fresh from the Garden
There is nothing like being able to walk outside when you feel hungry and just plucking a piece of sun-warmed fresh fruit from the garden.
Then sinking your teeth deep into its flesh, tasting the ripe sweetness and feeling the juice drip down your chin.
I Love Caves
Caves always seem such mysterious and fun places.
I love many geologic features, but caves hold a special place in my heart.
Caves are so secretive, there are so many we haven't explored and so many we haven't even found. They contain such strange and unusual formations too.
I Love Eyes
I'm passionate about eyes. They communicate so much.
Just a glance from beautiful eyes makes me smile. I'm especially partial to dark brown or black eyes, but all eyes are full of beauty.
My Favorite Things - By Julie Andrews
I Love Bright Colors
Bright colors are so cheerful and great, they just automatically make you feel better.
I Love Hot Springs on a Winter Day
Sinking into hot water and feeling snow falling all around me is a wonderful feeling.
I Love Knowledge
I love knowing things and learning and want to know about everything.
Knowing why things happen, what caused them, why things are the way they are. It's all wonderful.
I Love Winter Wonderlands
I love all the seasons, but I especially love winter.
The gleaming of light on freshly fallen snow, sunbeams shooting through crystalline icicles, and the fun of snow falling from the sky.
Making snowmen and snow angels, having snow fights and making snow forts, sledding and wandering through forests covered in snow, the entire season is full of magic.
I Love Road Trips
I know it's a bit of a cliché, but I absolutely love the freedom of the open road.
Whether driving roads I've grown to know and love or roads I have never been on that are full of new things to explore and discover, there is nothing like the feeling of a good road trip.
I especially love to try to get lost, just drive wherever I feel like, and just see where I end up.
I Love Rivers Running Through Forests
I Love Rough Stones
Faceted stones are lovely, don't get me wrong, but I love raw stones.
I especially love to find them myself, but some of my favorites aren't around where I live, so I get them where I can.
There's just something precious about a rock that has formed over millions of years, that you can cradle in your hand and cherish.
I Love Snow Forts
I love how creative snow can be.
It's possible for anyone to make a private, little fort to hide and have fun in. Everyone enjoys having a space that's all their own.
That any snow buildings, no matter how extensive, are ephemeral makes is rather bittersweet.
I Love Rain and Rain Puddles
Having been raised in what's considered a desert, rain has always felt special to me.
I have a huge affinity for earth and water, and dancing around on wet dirt while water falls from the sky still thrills me to my soul.
And then, after the rain has stopped, the world is so new and fresh and clean, and there are rain puddles to splash my way through.
I Love Surprise Kisses
Unexpected kisses are just so fun and delicious.
I Love Animals
Animals are a huge part of my life.
I love them, their gentle souls, their love and affection, their beauty.
In fact for years it was assumed I'd become a marine biologist or somehow work with animals since I love being among them so much.
I also can't stand to see them harmed for no reason when I can help them, so I run almost a mini pet rescue. I have far too many cats and a couple of dogs because there are just so many animals that need help.
I Love the Sierra Nevada
I Love Kayaking
I love the feel of a paddle, sliding through the water, propelling me toward interesting views of nature.
Then there's the zen-like nature of the almost meditative state you reach while paddling and the feel of my muscles pulling and flexing as we slide forward. It's so soothing and at times thrilling.
I Love the Ocean
I Love the Moon
I love the moon. It seems to sit up there in the sky and observe the going-ons on Earth dispassionately and yet somehow comfortingly.
It varies so much, going from a thin, nearly not there crescent, delicate and pretty to a pearl, glowing and caught in the branches of a tree to a round, full face staring down at us.
