Education in Australia-In recent weeks there has been considerable publicity here in Australia and more so in India about attacks on Indian students. Student attending Australian colleges in the State of Victoria have been subjected to various physical attacks. The popular media in India has branded the attacks as racist.
A number of protest have been held in Melbourne about the treatment of students generally by Australian Colleges. Some of the more fly by night operators have done the wrong thing by these students and failed to deliver on their promise of a useful educational certificate which can be used to obtain an Australian Visa.
Whilst these incidents are true the vast majority of Indian student that attend at established Universities and Colleges in Australia have no complaints. Most are happy with the highly regarded institution such as University of Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. as well as UQ & QUT in Queensland. Monash University in Melbourne. The Australian National University in Canberra also are universities with international standing.

Despite recent reports about discrimination agains Indian Students attending particular colleges. It seems that in reality the actual racial attacks have been very small. However the students have been the victims of crime just like anyone else in the community. One would think it is likely to feel worse if you are visiting from overseas. Like when I lost my wallet and passport whilst travelling I was distraught.
The Australian National University in Canberra the nation's capital has to be the best University in Australia both for teaching and research. Mind you I have to admit to some bias here being student thee in the 1980's. Since that time the University has gained in stature. It has fine research schools especially in medical research. As well it's Arts and Law faculties are second to none as are it Computer, Biology and other Science Faculties.
