What to Wear to a College Interview
Upon preparing for an interview for a college or university, an applicant may be frantic about several things. What questions should I come prepared with? Should I speak more formally, or relax like I'm speaking to a friend of mine? What responses will tell them what they want to hear? Although these questions are important to ask yourself, there is not actually a right or wrong answer to them. A common query, however, is equally important as it is answerable: What should I wear to the interview? This is something you could definitely go wrong with, so it's necessary to pay attention to the guidelines.
First of all, never wears jeans to the interview. It portrays that you are unprofessional. You should come across as serious about your application to the university and jeans do just the opposite. The same goes with shorts; why would anyone wear anything so casual? Even if you are only meeting at a Starbucks, business attire is essential.
Also, don't dress in a revealing manner. You should cover up most of your skin, for this is not the time to show it off. Your hair should be done nicely, and you should also be wearing a bit of make up if you are a girl.
For guys, a dress shirt and slacks are all you need to look nicely for the interview. For girls, however, this gets a bit more complicated. I've compiled some outfits together so that you will have a visual to help you.
