Silas Talbot is best known as the first Captain of the USS Constitution ) and a naval hero of the American Revolution.
But he also was a merchant, gentleman farmer and legislator. He served in the House of Representatives from his district in New York, and was an important figure in early United States history. He is buried in Trinity Church cemetery in New York city.
