With him in the white house, we will probably go back to the great depression years while he and his friends are living it up. Go read Mike's new hub. I laughed so much, a brilliant satire on Trump...

When Trump says "make America great again," I think he wants to take us back to the period 1953-1963.  During this  era, I was in grade and high school and really have nostagia for this time.  During the 50s and up until Kennedy's assasination, the U.S. was not involved in any world-wide conflicts like we are now.  Yes, there was the Cold War, but the U.S. was not sending troops abroad to actively fight now which it is doing in Afghanistan and Iraq.  There was no globalization in the economy, and the average blue collar worker had a job.  The feminist movement had not started yet and there were many stay at home moms.  There was basically law and order and not the rampage of mass shootings and conflict with police like there is now.  The family was much closer and I can't remember social welfare when  I was growing up.

Paul, we were in Viet Nam in that period of time. That was as bad as any world conflict.

Greg, Didn't we really start to send a lot of troops to Vietnam until 1965?  I'm talking about the period 1953 from when the Korean War fighting stopped until Nov of 1963.

The Viet Nam war was 1954 to 1975. We had been there quite a while when I joined in 1965.

Thank you Paul for answering my question.  I keep thinking maybe he wants to go back to when women could not vote.  I think he only likes women as sex objects/toys.
Thank you also Greg. My brothers were in the Vietnam war 1964/1965 at the same time.

Sorry Shyron, I do not have an answer.
The idea 'America great again' isnt first time presented as the focal point of pre election  cliché. Has anyone ask the candidate for particularities? Specifcally the people (each of us ) have heard only "great " having in mind personal pecualirity of very own vision a "better" future without even studying at what period of time America was SO great for everyone ?!

Thank you Michael I understand what you are saying,  I am thinking that because trump hates women that maybe he wants to go back to when women wee not allowed to vote, just a thought.  I appreciate that you answered my question.

He does? Married to third, he must be full of love for them. However some of "Great again" might refer to go back to unbroken families, everybody working/ earning daily bread; restored Law and order. . .

I think he married 1st wife because wives can't testify against their husbands.
And when they show signs of aging he trades them in for newer models, Or maybe when they start thinking for themselves. Controlling men do not like women who can think.

I've been thinking about this, and he's possibly referring to the time when we were fighting a raging war. You know that he LOVES Generals, war and of course women, the younger the better. If I was Mitt I'd hide my head in shame. Sarah Palin, oh no!

I think trump only likes subjugated women. Young skinny, very young skinny girls.  Thank you again for your answer.

I don't think he knows much about history. But I suspect he's generally referring to the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s when things were prosperous for the middle class.

Thank you OE, for answering this question. I was thinking he meant when women couldn't vote, because of his misogynistic views.
