BBC head of drama reveals real reason why Lark Rise To Candleford was axed - save the show LarkRise
UK series axed - fans still shocked and annoyed
The big bosses at the BBC have come clean as to the real reason behind the axing of the popular period tv drama 'Lark Rise to Candleford'.
They have claimed the fourth series was commissioned to be the final season because the writer quit the show.
BBC drama boss Ben Stephenson has stated that the writer, as well as the executive producer Bill Gallagher are "moving on" to other things and has apologised to the show's loyal following regarding the decision to end it following a short fourth series.
Mr. Stephenson has acknowledged the work of the cult fans of Lark Rise via their online 'Save Lark Rise to Candleford' campaign on social networking site Facebook, but has penned a final response telling the devoted fans that "we recognise that Lark Rise to Candleford has a loyal following and that many fans will be disappointed", but the writer and producer have made the decision to "quit while ahead" and leave LarkRise where it is.
