Oakvale: Blood and Sand
Out of all of the material that I have written, THIS is up there with the "how in the heck did I come up with something as awesome as this?" That's right, screw modesty, if I'm proud, I'm damn proud. These lyrics have all kinds of double meanings and misinterpretations and it fits to the music so well I can hardly contain my excitement in expressing myself! Here is the link if you want to listen to it.
(Verse 1)
Step fast, step past, all of their mocking.
Too late to turn back, just keep on walking.
All their cries, hopeful eyes, you were a champion.
To disappear from the world, perhaps I'll rise again.
>
Blood spilt in your name,
must have meant nothing,
you've gone and betrayed.
>
I'd face any trial for you,
you had nothing but to ask,
You must have had good reason,
for this charge would be my last.
>
Running blindly into what seemed the end,
whispered words of death portend.
How could you doubt my dedication,
to come back from the dead.
(Chorus x2)
Devoted only to- you were my one true fri- end my life if you would just tell me when.
(Verse 2)
The end is nigh, I'll keep on fighting.
My life has run dry, pain no longer biting.
The chance you once had, was murdered tonight.
It's time for me to go, towards an afterlife.
>
I'd face any trial for you,
you had nothing but to ask,
You must have had good reason,
for this charge would be my last.
>
Running blindly into what seemed the end,
whispered words of death portend,
how could you doubt my dedication,
to come back from the dead.
(Chorus x4)
Devoted only to- you were my one true fri- end my life if you would just tell me when.
That's All Folks
That's the last of the songs that I wrote that have lyrics that I'm willing to share. Blood and Sand was the single we had for the EP that we recorded mid 2011. It was a lot of fun being a part of Oakvale, it lasted for 2 years and I learned a lot and hope to keep learning more about music and developing my voice. As of right now I'm tentatively trying out for a local group that I'm very sure will make it because they have the one thing Oakvale didn't have, the WANT. The heart for it. Sometimes you get somewhere because of luck but in this world if you push hard something gives way and it all works out. I'm an optimist like that. Anyway, hope you liked my work and who knows, maybe you'll hear it on the radio someday!
