The Best Gangster Movies Ever - Test Your GANGSTER Knowledge Below In The Quiz

I love all types of movies, but when it comes to gangster movies, I have a strong weakness. Discovery Channel also is guilty of helping with this obsession because they have numerous documentaries about gangs and mafia sydicates that I enjoy.

I would have to say that two of my favorites are "Casino" and "Goodfellas". I love these two movies because of Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. They always play great roles in every movie they are in, comedy or drama. Both movies are non-fictional books by Nicholas Pileggi and both movies were directed by Martin Scorsese.

In "Casino", they tell the true story of Frank "Lefty" Rosenthal (Robert De Niro) who ran numerous casinos in Las Vegas for the Chicago Outfit (Mafia). Real Life mob enforcer, Anthony "Tony The Ant" Spilotro was portrayed as "Nicky Santoro" (Joe Pesci). It is a four hour movie but every minute is great entertainment and it is based on a true story so that makes it even more fascinating.

"Goodfellas" was originally named "Wiseguy" as a book. It is a true story based on the years leading up to the late 1967 Air France Robbery. Characters Paul "Paulie" Cicero (Paul Sorvino), Jimmy "The Gent" Conway (Robert De Niro), Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) and Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) are the perps with the murderous, robbery, mafia backgroud. This is a great movie that really unravels the real trails of gang life and mentality. In the end there is a grave lesson to learn.

I love learning the aspects of where these famous criminal minds have arose. Not saying I think they are idols or anything, but there are patterns in peoples lives that are signs of their adult personalities. Seeing how people have grown up and lived has a great immpact on how we view these violent groups of people. Some have seen people killed because they are born into gangster and mafia life while others are abused and runaways. These movies can tell you a lot about the minds of tortured and isolated people. As for the violence, it is apart of the story. It has to be told just like any other non - fictional or fictional tale in history.

There are a lot of gangster movies that still can be just as entertaining and lesson filled. I have a hobby of collecting these movies because they can be watched over and over without boredom. There seems to always be a lesson in the end no matter how gruesome or violent these movies are. The bad guy never wins and its a great reality check for those in the streets or gangs. Even though most people do not take the time out to acknowledge the hints, its good to always have knowledge of how history has come about. These movies are legendary and they will always be satisfying to the people who want to know anout life on the other sides of the law.
