Epigramman - A Tribute
He is known by all who love prose as the “Epigramman”
But I knew him when he was “Colin” a mere gentle-man
My buddy, my mate who never agitates nor grates
Nor ever starts a storm to stir the present peaceful state
He’s an affectionate guy who always cares
By all rights he’s a downright teddy bear
Like a Canadian Maple, he stands solidly without sin
And has a mild mannered gentle soul within
Where do I begin without making him appear thin
To explain the worth of a man 10,000 miles away?
For those who have not yet read his prose
It will be hard but I can only try I suppose
His sense of humor can take you unawares
And some of his expressions are quaint like when he says
“That’s a good point you’re making there.....”
Which makes you feel special without compare.
Of course, there is the element of surprise or shock
When he labels his cat a “terrorist” around the block
After successfully spilling his full bottle of beer
Which lands the poor feline in the cold, near Lake Erie
The worth of this man is infinite as the number of stars
He sets an example of hope even for those whose life is marred
That you’re never too old, too lonely, too far away or too poor
To love and be loved if only you allow people through your door
Colin, you’ve been immortalized in your collection of poems
They’ve even painted your portrait in which you’re not alone
You live in the Ontario wilderness and I think I know why
You’re waiting for that lovely Lady of Lake Erie to come by.
