Game of Thrones is a TV adaptation of George R.R Martin’s fantasy series novels entitled: “A Song of Ice and Fire”. It is a fantasy drama TV series which revolves mainly on power and violence that was created by HBO and started to air on April 17, 2011. From then on, this show has gained the attention of millions of viewers worldwide and its franchise has taken the world by storm. Audiences all around the globe are craving for more and can’t get enough of this series. Of which is why HBO renewed this phenomenal show for 2 more seasons, fifth and sixth, as a courteous response to viewers’ requests.

Can’t wait for the Game of Thrones’ comeback? Well, good news avid viewers, Season 5 will premiere this April 12, 2015! Season Four of Game of Thrones has left watchers hanging and waiting for the next episode to start. Most of us (including me) wish that the show would start sooner, but I guess we don’t have much of a choice. This TV series just keeps on getting bigger and bigger, better and better which makes it a show that’s worth patronizing. Here are the 8 reasons why this show has gained millions of audiences who keep an eye for each and every episode.

Reason #1: Great Story

Everyone loves a show that entails a great story. This show has a central plot of violence and power, which has been truly captured. It tells the struggle between noble families of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros to gain supremacy over the Iron Throne which deals with massive viciousness. It also illustrates the threat brought by legendary creatures due to imminent winter after a decade-long of summer. Aside from that, a banished descendant of the Mad King overcomes chronicles to reclaim her rightful claim to the throne. Though it may have received various criticisms for their excessive exposure of nudity and sexual violence towards women, it still features an exemplary history of the medieval period.

Reason #2: Pesky Villains

Game of Thrones has a number of villains that you would really love to hate. These villains enjoy while others suffer from great pain and loss. It is their happiness to cause trouble to others and punish those who would hinder their plans of conquering the Iron Throne. Based on online surveys, Joffrey Baratheon was the most hated character in the story which on the other hand proves how effective he is as a villain. He is not the only villain that made the show worthwhile, but also his mother, Cersei Lannister, the Queen Regent and grandfather, Tywin Lannister. Ramsay Snow has been considered second to Joffrey Baratheon, as a wicked character.

No one could be more wicked than King Joffrey Baratheon, and after his death, audiences all over the globe was happy about it. It only proves how effective he is as a villain.

Reason #3: Incredible Set

The shooting of this remarkable show took place in various locations including: Northern Ireland, Malta, Croatia, Iceland and Morocco. What we refer to as “Beyond the Wall” was actually in Northern Iceland, imagine the wildlings climb to those walls, whew! As for the scene of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo’s wedding, it was shot in Gozo, Malta. The limestone Azure Window provided a splendid backdrop for the wedding scene and is perfect for the Dothraki tribe’s celebration.

Reason #4: Dashing Resemblance Among Bloodlines

It’s in the genes! The dashing resemblance of the Stark Brothers made their girl audiences (count me in!) giggle and chuckle while watching Game of Thrones. Anyone can melt with just a stare from them, not to mention their perfectly curved body that’s really hot. Having them on the show makes every girl want to live in the medieval era. There is no question to it, they got their looks from their father, none other than Lord Eddard Stark, whose physique and visage is still stunning at his age.

Reason #5: Portrayal of Women’s Power

Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, and Catelyn Stark are just one of the many characters of this series that represented the power that women possess. Daenerys has led the Dothraki tribe, freed the slaves from their masters in every city she conquered and led her army to reclaim her rightful place as heir to the iron Throne. Catelyn Stark raised her children well and taught them how to be honorable men. On top of being a mother, she was able to lead their army alongside her son, Robb Stark in a battle against the Lannisters. Cersei Lannister also portrayed great women power despite of her wicked acts.

Reason #6: Bloody Wars

The bloodshed brought by the wars between the highborn families of the realm has been adored by many. It illustrates how battles are done during the medieval times and how soldiers make use of their weapons to kill their opponents. While watching the fight scenes, you can’t help yourself but notice the brutality but it seems realistic that’s why we all love it.

Reason #7: Extravagant Wardrobe

Oh yes! We all appreciate how the characters dress up and how their outfit perfectly fits them. From the royal wardrobes of the noble families in King’s Landing and Knights up to the costumes of the Dothraki Tribe members and wildlings, it’s undeniably a great choice. The stylists and crew of the wardrobe unit deserves praise for their incredible task for they have done a wonderful job. The detail of the dresses and the embroidery is impeccable.

Reason #8: Mythical and Legendary Creatures

One of the many reasons why this show is not boring is the presence of mythical creatures- White walkers. It is a race of frosty humanoids that the Night Watcher’s fight against to ensure that they will not cross the Wall and lay waste on the seven kingdoms. Winter has come and these legendary creatures are on the move. Male babies are being offered to them as a sacrifice and Sam was able to slay one of them while protecting Gilly and his son, using an obsidian dagger. It tells a story of existence that’s beyond humanity alone.

Game of Thrones Inspired Decorations and Memorabilia

Each Game of Thrones’ aficionado has their own distinct reasons why they love this show, and above mentioned are the top reasons (I know you’d agree). Other reasons are beyond description, you just simply love it for what it is! From the day it premiered up to its last episodes, it just never gets boring.. Others have collected memorabilia and others transformed their home into a Game-of-Thrones inspired place by giving medieval touches such as on their bedrooms.
