Jimmy Fallon and His "Thank You Notes"
Jimmy Fallon
A Humorous Tribute to Be Thankful for Everyday Things
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been on the air for over two years now. I catch the show on a frequent basis and I really enjoy his Friday episodes when Jimmy writes out "Thank You Notes". The "Thank You Notes" segment has been such a big hit that Jimmy Fallon recently released a book on May 23rd titled, "Thank You Notes".
What makes this segment so great is that Fallon will pick some of the most random things and expresses his thank you to them. In this past Friday, May 27, 2011 clip, Jimmy is thankful for our service men and women of the armed forces, frozen burritos, and unrated versions of movies. I love the piano playing from the house band, The Roots. I think it gives an extra element of humor to the segment.
Jimmy Fallon spent six years on Saturday Night Live and starred in movies such as "Fever Pitch" and Taxi. Fallon has hosted many award shows such as the Primetime Emmy Awards and the MTV Movie and Music Awards.
Late Night with Jimmy Fallon has been regularly praised by the critics. The show has scored very well in the ratings especially going up against The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson on CBS and Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
When I first heard that Jimmy Fallon was going to replace Conan O'Brien on Late Night, all I can think of this is the guy who cracked up laughing during many of his skits on SNL. I will say this, Jimmy Fallon is quite talented as an impressionist, actor, host, and writer. He performs some spot-on impressions. My favorite is Jimmy Fallon's impression of Charlie Sheen. This impression is shall I say, "duh, winning"! When it was announced that Ashton Kuchar is replacing Sheen on "Two and Half Men", Fallon performed a skit on Late Night called, "Sheen'd", a take on Ashton Kuchar's "Punk'd".
No doubt "Thank You Notes" is my favorite segment of Late Night. You cannot help but laugh out loud to some of the everyday things Jimmy Fallon is thankful for in life. Many of the topics are completely random. Fallon and his writing staff on the show are some of the best in the business. NBC definitely hit a homerun landing Fallon to host Late Night. Fallon had some big shoes to fill in David Letterman and Conan O'Brien but I think he has done that. I know that I will be picking up the book, "Thank You Notes" sometime soon. The book is available on Amazon.com and many fine retail and online outlets. I am sure too it is available for e-readers like the Kindle and Nook.
