The Best Typical Karaoke Songs
I’ve performed karaoke all over the world, including Germany, Belgium, UK, the Caribbean, and in the USA. I’m certainly not a karaoke expert, but I like to have fun with it. I am also not a karaoke poser since I’ve done all my karaoke solo. If you’ve only done karaoke with a group, you’re a karaoke poser and have really never done karaoke!
These are the songs that I consider the top Karaoke songs. These are not the most popular songs, but just the ones I like. I can’t stand the popular karaoke songs like “Love Shack” or “Summer Nights” (the Grease theme). We’re tired of hearing these songs – do something original or do one off my list!
Man in the Box by Alice in Chains
I love this song, but it is not a typical karaoke song. This song typically wakes the crowd up because they wonder who the hell is crazy enough to try this song, especially with all the eyeyeyeeye, eyeyeeye, eyeyey, etc., parts! This song revives the semi-conscious metal heads that have been forced to endure the Celine Dion and other boring songs.
You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi
This is an 80s classic and I’ve never met someone that doesn’t remember or like this song. I once performed this song in a small club in Belgium in front of a bunch of Japanese girls. Those girls were going crazy dancing to the song. I would sing the “You Give Love” part, then hold the mic out to the girls to finish the “...a Bad Name” part. They loved this and went crazy.
Friends in Low Places by Garth Brooks
I don’t like country music, but I like this song and I like to sing it. People love this song. It seems like everyone has heard this song and, before long, they are all singing it with you as they sway back and forth with their beers in hand!
Black by Pearl Jam
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love the emotion Eddie Vedder puts into this song and I love the lyrics. This is a really hard song to sing, but it's cool if you can pull it off. This song typically doesn’t get much of a reaction from the crowd, other than strange stares, but whatever….I love this song and I love singing it.
Talk Dirty to Me by Poison
This is another classic song from the 80s. I used to love this song and I still do. This is a great party song and it is sure to elevate the mood at the bar. People grow tired of sad karaoke songs...who goes to a karaoke bar to be sad? Also, all the women typically love this song and this is a fun and easy song to sing.
Born to be Wild by Steppenwolf
This is actually the first song I ever did karaoke too! Often you may find yourself at a place with a really antiquated song list…no worries, this song is typically on there and it is a good choice. Break the ambiance of crappy love songs with this song that is bound to “get your motor running”!
You Never Even Called Me By My Name by David Allen Coe
Everyone seems to know this song, especially all the drunk people in the crowd. This song is bound to get people singing along with you and swaying with their beers – just like the Garth Brooks song.
Everlong by Foo Fighters
One of the best songs ever and also a very cool song to sing. If performed properly, this song will bring tears to most of the ladies in the house!
