Kirsten Wigg: Hollywood’s Newest Triple Threat
Kirsten Carroll Wigg had us laughing to tears in the 2011 hit movie ‘Bridesmaids’. Wigg played the role of Annie, a Milwaukee girl in the midst of a mid-life crisis, whom is selected to be the maid of honor at her best friend’s wedding. Annie tries, hysterically, to ensure the perfect dream wedding while keeping the arsenal of bridesmaids in line. Not only did Wigg make her major movie role debut with ‘Bridesmaids’, she also co-wrote and co-produced the movie.
Wigg was born in Canadaiguar, New York on August 27, 1973.She then moved toRochester, New York, with growing aspirations of becoming a member of the ‘Saturday Night Live’ cast. After graduation, she moved to Las Angeles, California to follow her dreams. Once there, she became intimidated by the competition and her lack of professional training and resorted to retail work for some years.
Fortunately, Wigg was introduced to The Groundlings, a Las Angeles based improvisational group with alumni members such as Will Ferrel, Will Forte, Phil Hartman, and Maya Rudolph. With her supportive training from The Groundlings, Wiggs was able to land small television roles before finally accomplishing her dreams of joining the elite cast of ‘Saturday Night Live’ in 2005. After some performances on ‘Saturday Night Live’, Wigg was able to land minor roles on the big screen.
Wigg’s impressive performance in ‘Knocked Up’ persuaded the movie’s director (Judd Andrew) to ask her to write a movie in which she will be casted as a major character. Thus, she began her work on ‘Bridesmaids’ and the rest, as they say, is history. Wigg’s next project is ‘Friends with Kids’, a movie of thirty-something year old best friends that observe the way kids have negatively effective the lives of those they know. ‘Friends with Kids’ will be released in 2012.
