In Memoriam

August 29,1958 - June 25, 2009

We often take life for granted and we criticize or are harsh based on what the media discusses. We become judgemental and jump to conclusions regardless if we are right or wrong when it comes to a person who is in the spotlight. Michael Jackson was a pop star and many of us grew up knowing his music, learning the moonwalk, and learning all of his dance moves. He will forever be etched in millions of hearts and will never be forgotten, may he rest in peace and may his family realize how much Michael was truly loved. I have listed many originals that many grew up with or had been passed on from generation to generation. His strength in his voice and dance took our music industry to another level. Beaten down by the media they now have sorrowful hearts and do not have a chance to apologize for the cruelty that was given when his people needed him the most. Controversial yet loved, Michael Jackson wrote about life, love and color. About being one as a people and not dividing ourselves. We must embrace him and his family and allowing them to have time to mourn their beloved son, father, and brother. The one the only King of Pop Michael Jackson. Our hearts go out to the Jackson Family and may God give you Peace in your time of sorrow.

He was a very talented child and man. His music will live on! Many kind thoughts going out to his family, I can't imagine the pain of loosing a beloved child.

Candie: He certainly was and I could not imagine the pain either. If we are feeling numb, the pain is a thousand times worse. My husband has placed calls and gave codolences. Although it has been years for him, his family stays in touch. Although they are famous, they are people to so many.

I was stunned this gifted star died so unexpectedly and young. I have always admired the power of his talent and performances, they often brought me chills; "Man In The Mirror" is my favorite one. A few years ago, I saw him in an interview, forget who it was that interviewed him, but what captured my attention and heart is the sincerity and love with which he spoke. One can't fake that, at least not with me. Yes, he was eccentric in his ways, but this is who he was, a unique expression of God who hurt no one and left beauty and love behind in the form of his music.

You are now dancing in the Light with God, may it reach your loved ones bringing them the comfort they need now.

Michael was two years younger than I am. As a musical kid I rocked to this other musical kid singing "ABC" and "The Love You Save," etc. When I danced - as a kid - I did steps I'd seen him do. The older he got, the more amazed I was by him. As a musician, I've always held the utmost respect for his incredible talent -- even when he and his life became ugly and circus-like. The first time the Thriller video aired on MTV (when they still played music) I came home, walked in the door and turned the TV on just as it was starting. I sat awestruck. I always held out hope that he would pull himself back together and get back to what he should be doing ... comeback strong The way it ended for him is tragic ... on a scale for which I have no words.

I'm told that that, as a very young boy, I cried while watching the JFK funeral on TV. Other than that, I've never been brought to tears by the passing of a celebrity, no matter how much I liked or admired them.

But today ... I cried.

I was in complete denial when I first heard the news. I thought it was another lie propagated about him by the media. How could this genius whose music I played constanty be dead? He was part of my adolescence (and beyond). When I got in my car, literally every station was playing his music and I knew it was true. There I was, in my car with my young kids, bawling while listening to "Human Nature". He's such an icon, even my young kids know who he is. I am deeply saddened by his death and feel terrible for the family. My heart is with them and his beautiful three children. May he rest in peace. He will never be forgotten.

Great tribute AEvans--I was nothing less than shocked. Never expected it. I just hope his family is getting through ok.

Came back to read the comments, and sigh, at my age, I don't generally get too affected by celebrities' passings, but Michael Jackson's did touch me. I guess its in seeing such an awesome artist who moved us with his music and messages, leave us so suddenly that shook many of us. His passing makes me realize yet again, how sacred and impermanent life is; best to love, live life fully, and do the best we can. May his spirit shine on~

ocbill profile image

ocbill 7 years ago from hopefully somewhere peaceful and nice

I remember my 45's & cassette tapes from  the Jackson's in my younger years. Tragic and sad. So many great songs, so many exceptional performances, And probably more importanly  for Michael Jackson was his inspiration to people. He got his point across to many with his music from "Man in the mirror"  "We are the World",  "Black and White" &  tons of dance hits that jingle in your head. BTW, I turned on various radio stations around the world and heard them playing Michael Jackson 's hits In Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Frankfurt....sad times.

But this morning, I thought hey, I could be gone tomorrow too so again remember to live life to its fullest (like the comment made above).

At least he passed away preparing for his passion.

AEvans profile image

Am I dead: He certainly will. :(

VioletSun: *Smiles* :)

ocbill: He was passionate about what he did and he left us doing what he did best. He certainly will be missed. I agree we should all live life to its fullest. :)

badco: That is a wonderful story I knew someone who could do the moonwalk at one time and that was a dance that was hard to perfect. You are right everyone has there flaws and I hope that he is looking down and realizing how much everyone honestly adored and admired him. Thank you for the heartfelt thoughts.

I really love the Thriller video. MJ was one of those people you never forget despite the time. His music is so good. It's not an exaggeration if i say he was the Albert Einstein of music. R.I.P.

Hi AEvans, thank you for passing on my letter to the Jacksons family. And for this beautiful tribute. It is Michael Jacksons songs that unite us all and there is so many of them. And you are right, he wrote about life, love, and color...and the combination of innocence and depth is what speaks to our being (whether we recognized it or not). Love and light...

AEvans profile image

AEvans 7 years ago from SomeWhere Out There Author

ripplemaker: You are quite welcome and my husband was happy to do it. It was one of the most sincere letters they have recieved. We are still in shock over it, and the morbid thing is they have a video of him on you-tube with the paramedics how horribly cruel. That is not how he would have wanted to remembered. I wish they would remove it. :(

ripplemaker profile image

Michael Jackson was called the King of Pop because his music was awesome. I can remember doing the moonwalk at a middle school dance and again in high school. I wished and fantasized that I could dance like him. He was a great contributor to music and life. Great tribute to a legend, I foresee oneday his life being as legendary as Elvis's.

Great selections, though they were before my time. I think I was born around the time he first sang ABC...love the song though. You're very fortunate to have gotten to know the Jackson family the way you did...especially Michael Jackson. Though I never meet him, I feel I understand him very well and wish I had the chance to meet him. Well, I will in heaven because I know he's up there with a nice, big pair of wings.
