Best Bet: Out of the Furnace

Out of the Furnace was recently in theaters and although it's an excellent film many did not see it.

Out of the Furnace stars Christian Bale as a down on his luck blue collar working trying to survive in a tough, depressed city.

Woody Harrelson plays one of the best Villains you're going to see in any film. And Casey Affleck has perhaps the best one liner of the year for 2013 in the film. I won't spoil it by telling you what it is but it's an argument between Casey and Harrelson and the line alone is worth watching the movie for.

Dead Man Walking

Short Poppies is a mockumentary about the eccentric residents of a small town in New Zealand. All of the main characters are portrayed by Rhys Darby and each episode chronicles one of the town's residents, from the Whale Watching entrepreneur to the local Champion of the annual "best legs" competition.

Rhys Darby, best known for his role in Flight of the Concords is a versatile comedic actor who can morph into several very different characters on Short Poppies.

We Cause Scenes

Well if you're looking for something different this is definitely it. We Cause Scenes is exactly what it sounds like, group of people going out in public causing scenes, from a guy getting high fives to strangers riding the subway without pants.

Many of the scenes created have become Internet sensations and the creativity of the some of the pranks is quite impressive.

Check out the documentary, We Cause Scenes, this month on Netflix streaming.

Netflix Originals

Netflix is really make a name for itself with it's award winning original programming including House of Cards, Orange is the New Black among others.

If you have not watched these original shows you owe it to yourself to check them out. They are some of the best shows available right now. Even Netflix less known shows, Derek, Lillyhammer and Hemlock Grove are excellent programs, well produced and highly entertaining.

Netlix currently is in negotiations to produce a new show, The Crown, which will follow the life of Queen Elizabeth as she lives through several historic events. The Crown purportedly will be Netflix's most expensive endeavor. That's saying a lot given they reportedly paid $100 million dollars to produce House of Cards.

American Courtesans

Amazon Prime

A good addition to Netflix streaming is Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime is Amazon's streaming service and Netflix's closest competitor. Amazon Prime offers different shows and movies than you will find on Netflix.

Like Netflix, Amazon also produces it's own content such as Alpha House and Beta's.

Unlike Netflix, Amazon Prime is not a monthly subscription, it charges a flat yearly rate of $99. One of the best features of being an Amazon Prime subscriber is that along with their streaming service you also get free two day shipping on any items you purchase from the Amazon site. If you routinely shop on Amazon this perk with pay for itself in the money you will save on shipping costs.

Another recent addition to Amazon Prime is that they have teamed up with HBO and now have all of HBO's shows available to view on streaming, so if you missed shows like Deadwood or the Soprano's you can catch up!

Like Netflix, Amazon Prime offers a free one month trial so sign up and give it a try.
