Shrek Forever After The Final Chapter 3D Movie Review

Yes, I'm middle aged, no I have no young children or grandchildren. And yes, I went to the theater and watched Shrek The Final Chapter movie. What can I say? I'm young at heart, I guess. I went with my teenage daughter, who also wanted to see it, so that's my official excuse for watching the kids' movie.

So in a nutshell, the writers of Shrek the Final Chapter gave it an apt name. Shrek Forever After is the fourth movie in the Shrek franchise. After suffering for less than two hours watching it, I really don't think there could be another profitable Shrek movie.

But, they squeezed the turnip for the last bit of blood money it would give up, and Shrek is the number 1 movie in theaters right now. Just so you know, I didn't watch Shrek The Final Chapter in 3D, so maybe that would have made for a better review, but I doubt it.

Anyway, I was hoping to spend some fun time with the lovable Shrek characters. And they all came back for this movie- Shrek, of course, Fiona, Donkey, Puss in Boots, Gingerbread Man, Pinochio- they're all here. And the famous voices behind the characters participated, too- Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, and Antonio Banderas.

And I am also not sure what the official latest Shrek movie name is- Shrek The Final Chapter 3D? Shrek Forever After? Shrek The Final Chapter 3D Forever After? I really don't know. But the movie poster was titled 'Shrek The Final Chapter 3D', so that's what I'm using here.

The movie shows Shrek celebrating his kids' first birthday with all of his family and friends. Shrek is facing the classic midlife crisis. He wishes his life hadn't changed so drastically since his younger days. He finds his present life dull and boring.

So, he does what any ogre would do. He signs a magical contract with the evil Rumpelstiltskin to have just one glorious day of his younger days back again. He can be an ogre feared by everyone and have some old fashioned fun scaring the villagers. And then he can go back to his quiet, married life with kids.

But Rumpelstiltskin tricks Shrek, and Shrek loses all that he loved so dearly. Can he get his old life back again? Watch the Shrek movie and see!

The only saving graces to this new Shrek the Final Chapter movie were Donkey and Puss in Boots mostly. Especially Donkey- he still made me almost laugh out loud a couple of times. And Pinocchio and Gingerbread Man had some funny moments, too.

The most annoying part of the new Shrek movie was Rumpelstiltskin. He reminded me of a cross between those weird troll dolls from a few years back and Hermey the elf from Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer on crack. He was irritating to the extreme. His voice had the same effect on me as fingernails scratching a chalkboard.

Oh yeah, there is one more thing that's great about this movie. As I mentioned earlier, it's only ninety minutes long. So, I didn't waste too much of my life watching it.

Unless you have kids that want to watch this, I don't advise you to pay for a movie ticket. I don't even think I would pay a dollar for those movie vending machines to watch this new Shrek movie. If you decide to watch Shrek the Final Chapter anyway, don't say I didn't warn you.
