The origins of the clone troopers could be traced back to the days before the blockade on Naboo, when the army was commissioned by the Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, however the project of the clones fell to a man known as Tyranus (Count Dooku).

Jango Fett. Jango is a Mandalorian bounty hunter who was chosen to be the template of the clone army. The Kaminoans took Fett's DNA and altered it by selecting genes having to do with loyalty, aggression, independence, and discipline. This resulted in the perfect soldier completely obedient. A few clones were not altered which came to be know as the Advanced Recon Commandos, ARC Troopers.

"They'll do their job well, I guarntee that." - Jango Fett

Training. As the clones matured, Fett took a hiaus from his bounty-hunting career in order to oversee the training of his soldiers. Fett even had a hand in designing their armor.

In order to make them available to the Republic as quickly as possible all clones underwent genetic modification designed to hasten the growth process. As a result, each clone aged at twice the rate of a normal human.

THE CLONE WARS

The Clone Wars spread across the galaxy which involved the Republic and the Separatists (CIS). The Republic fought with Jedi (the commanders) and Clones (the bulk of the army). The CIS fought with a few leaders such as Count Dooku, General Grievous, and Nute Gungray, and used Battle Droids as the army. The Clone wars was a ploy of the evil Sidious to spread the Jedi thin across the galaxy for his master plan.

ORDER 66 "The clone troopers, now proudly wearing the name of Imperial Stormtroopers, have tackled the dangerous work of fighting our enemies on the front lines. Many have died in their devotion to the Empire." - Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious)

Each clone was given a order stored in there brain since they were born. Order 66. This order was to be given as a safety parodical. If the Jedi where to take over the senate and sees power of the Republic, the order was given to save the Republic. The order commanded every clone to kill all jedi. But Darth Sidious used the order to destroy the Jedi, even though there was no ku. The Clone Troopers were loyal to the republic and followed the order blindly. From then on the Clone Troopers were called Imperial Stormtroopers, and the Republic was called the Galactic Empire.

End of the Fett Cloning Program "We Never really got used to the new guys." - 501st Stormtrooper

After the Republic fell the cloners of Kamino rebelled against the Galactic Empire by using their cloning technologies to launch a war against the Empire. The Empire sent a massive team to destroy Tipoca City. Boba Fett led the 501st Legion into the city and disable the cloning production. The uprising provoked the Emperor and he decided that an army of genetically identical clones presented too many possibilities of turning against him, just as they had done to the Jedi. The Emperor decided to use many templates of clones for the army which the Fett clones would rapidly become lost under the number of recruits.

The End

Ultimately, the cloning program that was used to produce almost 50 percent of the stormtroopers ranks was finally ended with the defeat of the Galactic Empire at the Battle of Endor. After the death of the Emperor and Vader, clones became increasingly rare and obsolete as the remnants of the Empire turned to birth-born recruits, both Human and non-Human alike.

  4. Republic changed to the Galactic Republic
  5. Clone Troopers changed to Imperial Stormtroopers
  6. Fett Clones mixed with other Templates
  7. Clones began to become rare after the Empire Fell

HOW TO TELL THEM APART

Ranks of Clone Troopers

In the Clone Wars, ranks were shown by color worn on their Arm, Helmet, and Shoulder Armor except for major legions like the 501st.

TYPES OF COMBAT CLONES

CLONE ASSASSINS - were trained to move very quickly and kill their targets efficiently with only two vibroblades or a sniper rifle. The art of Teras Kasi was one of the unit's basic abilities along with their enhanced speed. The Assassins wore armor that was very similar to that worn by Clone Commander Neyo. Assassins were commissioned by Palpatine to combat Jedi, they were sent to aid the purge of the Jedi Order.

"You haven't seen anything as fast as me" - Unknown clone assassin

Advanced Recon Commando

The ARC Troopers were elite variants of clone troopers. They were among the most skilled soldiers in the galaxy. After completing standard flash training and accelerated growth these clones were placed under the direct tutelage of Jango Fett Under Fett's strict discipline they learned to use their fierce independence, innate creativity, and physical superiority in combination with their training in advanced weapons and vehicles to become virtual one-man armies. After completing their training, the ARC troopers were locked in stasis on Kamino until they were required.

"You are the best; the elite, you will not fail me." - Obi-Wan

Null-Class Advanced Recon Commando

Numbering only twelve, the Null-class Advanced Recon Commandos were the first clones of Jango Fett created by the Kaminoan cloners, and the prototypes for the Grand Army of the Republic. They were deemed a failure by the Kaminoans and were not put into mass-production.

"Highly intelligent, deviant, disturbed—and uncommandable." - Orun Wa

Two Clone Intelligence units, Null-6 and Null-10, were the troopers who located General Grievous's hiding place on Utapau near the end of the Clone Wars.

"Think of yourselves as a hand. Each of you is a finger, and without the others you're useless. Alone, a finger can't grasp, or control, or form a fist. You are nothing on your own, and everything together."

clone commando, or Republic commando, was an elite soldier of the Grand Army of the Republic. Often working in groups of four, clone commandos were assigned to carry out covert operations too delicate for regular clone troopers. Covert infiltration, sabotage, foreign unit training, and assassination were standard tasks for the clone commandos

When Order 66 was issued by Emperor Palpatine at the end of the Clone Wars, one commando unit, Ion Team, refused to fire on their commanding Jedi for various reasons, thus showing that at least some commandos were independent.

Blaze Trooper

The clone blaze trooper was the Grand Army of the Republic's frontline close combat infantry support unit and a type of jet trooper. Heavily armored and jet-propelled, the blaze troopers were hulking figures in their armor, which appeared similar to that later worn by the Imperial spacetroopers. They were tasked with 'blazing' through enemy lines and clearing accumulated battlefield debris out of the way of advancing infantry, using their wrist-embedded flamethrowers. A number of Blaze troopers were also deployed in the Jedi Temple during Operation: Knightfall where they fought against Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda.

ARF Trooper

ARF Troopers, were specialized clone troopers that carried out short-range reconnaissance for Jedi Generals andclone commanders. They would ride on AT-RTs and carried Thermal detonators with them on missions.

The Biker Advanced Recon Commando trooperwas a specialized clone trooper trained to handle the BARC speedersdeployed during the Clone Wars.

BARC troopers saw action during the last years of the war, including the Battle of Kashyyyk, where the BARC troopers faced Confederacytank droids and dwarf spider droids. A platoon of these troopers undercommander Neyo was out on a recon mission on Saleucami withStass Allie when the platoon commander received Order 66. He carried out his orders without hesitation, once again proving the loyalty of theclone troopers.
