Synopsis: British Secret Agent 007, James Bond, must stop a plot, by Auric Goldfinger, to manipulate the worlds economy by contaminating the U.S. gold supply with a small nuclear bomb.
Fact: Goldfingers first name, Auric, is related to Aurum which is Latin for gold. The symbol on the periodic table representing gold is AU which is related as well.
Trivia: Much of the film is based in the U.S. yet Sean Connery never shot a scene there. All of Sean Connery's scenes were shot in Europe.
Movie Mistake: When Oddjob uses his hat to decapitate the statue, the hat continues to sail away. When Oddjob retrieves his hat it's lying right next to the statue.
My Take: Until Daniel Craigs recent Bond flick, Casino Royale, this was the best Bond film ever. Now it's tied for best Bond flick ever. Goldfinger is the only James Bond film that I've seen at least three times every decade of my life and that I've enjoyed the same amount every time. It's just so fricken cool and has one of the best bad guys ever as well as best sidekick in Oddjob. "No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die." I love it!
