The Kardashians Boycott: Agree or Disagree?

The Trouble With the Kardashians

I have to admit that I used to be a reality show junkie, which was strange because I had no interest in them when they first started coming out. I somehow started watching one, when I was clicking from channel to channel, looking for something of interest on TV. Well, I got hooked and used to watch a lot of them, including the Kardashians. After about three years, I got sick and tired of them. They were just too way out there and phony. I am now a recovered reality show junkie! I don't watch any of them anymore and don't miss them.

When I recently read that a woman named Cyndy Snider got a petition to get the Kardashians cancelled, I was very pleased. Of all the shows I watched, they were the most disgusting. I am not a prude, far from it, but I even blushed at some of the things they said and did. They are one of the most dysfunctional families I've seen in a long time and yet this is not brought out. The mother is a money grubbing monster, in my opinion, and Bruce Jenner is apparently one wimpy dude! The girls are selfish, conceited, vulgar, uncaring and just plain mean. I don't understand their appeal or how they even got to where they are. They are your typical non-celebrity "celebrities."

One of the main objections is the influence they have over teens and young adults. I can't think of worse role models. If my child started acting like them, I would lay down the law, so I do feel it's no excuse for bad behavior, but I also wouldn't want them watching this trash. That's not to say that I think anything that might cause my child to act inappropriately should be taken off TV. It's still my job as a parent to raise them the proper way. I just think that certain shows are just too disgusting to deserve any air time.

Maybe the most irritating thing to me is that these people are making a fortune off abhorent behavior! When are we going to stop making "celebrities" out of no talent morons? Out of people who have nothing going for them except they can be more shocking than the other guy? I think of all the decent, hard working folks out there who are barely making ends meet and then look at the Kardashians...it makes me sad and a little sick. You sometimes wonder if being a good person is even worth it anymore. I think it is, but have to admit there are times when I wonder if being a classless, crude b.... wouldn't serve me better.

I am generally against censorship of any kind, but it's getting to the point where I feel we may be too free. Is there a line that shouldn't be crossed? When I heard about the boycott and petition, I was surprised, but also pleased to know others felt the same way about this clan. I wasn't the only one who was sick to death of them and disgusted by their behavior. I am tired of people getting rewarded for bad behavior...period. What do you think about this?
