GOODFELLAS with Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro & Joe Pesci

GOODFELLAS

William Petersen, Al Pacino, and John Malkovich all turned down roles in the movie. Over two dozen cast members would eventually appear on The Sopranos. Illeana Douglas and Samuel L. Jackson have early roles in the film. The success of "Goodfellas" would lead to the production of three other movies: "The 10 Million Dollar Getaway" and "The Big Heist" were about the 1978 Lufthansa heist and "My Blue Heaven" was a fictionalized comedic account of Henry Hill in the Witness Protection Program.

I LOVE YOU TO DEATH had an excellent ensemble cast

I LOVE YOU TO DEATH

Tracey Ullman, Kevin Kline, R. Phoenix The movie is a comedic re-telling of Tony and Frances Toto, a real-life couple from Allentown, PA. Frances, with the help of three others, tried to kill her husband over the period of 1982-1983. Tony was not a nice guy but he vowed to remainful faithful to his wife after the attempted murder. She was tried and convicted. Her sentence ended before the movie was produced and the couple was still together in 2014

PUMP UP THE VOLUME starring Christian Slater

PUMP UP THE VOLUME

Christian Slater, Samantha Mathis ---- Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis, who dated after the film, would team up again six years later in the movie "Broken Arrow". Writer/director Allan Moyle uses music and radio as themes in many of his movies from "Times Square" in 1980 to "Empire Records" in 1995. Samantha Mathis was River Phoenix' girlfriend and was with him at the time of his death at the The Viper Room.

TOTAL RECALL with Sharon Stone & Arnold Schwarzenegger

TOTAL RECALL

Richard Dreyfuss, William Hurt, and Patrick Swayze were considered for the role of Quaid. The story was in development hell for years and the original writers shelved their story when their script for "Alien" was picked up. Dino De Laurentiis started development of the movie but his company went bankrupt before production started. Arnold Schwarzenegger was interested in the role but was turned down. When the production company went bankrupt, Arnold had Carolco Picture buy the production, allowing him complete artistic control on the film. It was probably the most expensive film produced until Arnold's Terminator 2: Judgment Day a few years later. Characters are constantly giving away the plot of the movie as the story progresses. The Johnny Cab robot is voiced and created in the likeness of actor Robert Picardo, who would join the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Quaid was originally called Quail in the movie but Vice President Dan Quayle's public persona of being an idiot caused the name change.
