Moto Chris strolls back into the house, grabs and beer and makes it upstairs to see his note which says, “Here’s your chance to make it right.” So, what does he do? He goes down to the house’s kitchen, waits there and has a conversation with a bear full of honey. He then realizes that when Tom said meet him in the kitchen, it’s the Top Chef Kitchen, not the house kitchen. Duh, indeed.
Challenge
The challenge is to make a dish that incorporates all of the ingredients found in a series of mystery boxes which will appear throughout the challenge.
The cheftestants open the first box to reveal, pine nuts, lamb chops, parsnip, buttermilk, cinnamon and marshmallows. After around 10 minutes, Whitney brings out the second box with radicchio inside. Heather brings out the last box with only 10 minutes left on the clock which has white anchovy.
Anyone one else beside me notice they let the negative Nellys bring out all the bad news? Just me? Okie dokie.
Bev made grilled lamb chop with parsnips, curry, radicchio and white anchovy vinaigrette. Tom thought it was nicely cooked, liked the way it was sliced and it wasn’t too sweet. He thought it was a good dish.
Moto Chris made a grilled lamb chop with a sweet puree, radicchio salad with pancetta, pine nuts and apple. Tom thought it was perfectly cooked.
Though they are two completely different chefs, Tom noted that they really didn’t use the pantry that much and their dishes looked very similar. Tom felt both dishes were good, but one plate did a much better job weaving ingredients together.
Who should have won?
Chris gets to hang out with his best buddy Richie. There’s more to come and Bev only has one more challenger to beat to get back in the game and have a chance to become the Top Chef.
