Regine Velasquez
Regine Velasquez is known for several decades as an International singer from Philippines. Regine was known before as "Chona Velasquez" and later on change her name as Regine Velasquez. She never wandered that in the industry she have right now will help her a lot and giving her an opportunity to share her talent all over the world.
Regina Encarnacion Ansong Velasquez in real, is a Filipina recording artist and actress. Regine was born in Tondo, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 22, 1970. She was the oldest sibling of Teresita and Gerardo Velasquez.
When her family moved to Hinundayan, Southern Leyte - his fathers hometown, Regine studied at Hinundayan Central School. Both of her parents are music lover. Her father is soloist and love to sang Frank Sinatra's songs and accompanied by her mothers guitar. Her father was her own vocal coach and trainor as well as her mother also helped here on how-to move on stage and interpret songs. No wonder that Regine has a high range of vocal that really touches your heart.
Regine as a Singer
Regine before is a contest-maker. She joined thousand of singing competition way back in here childhood memories. She could even try hard just to fulfill her ambitions and goals in life, to have a beautiful living. At the age of six (6), Regine joined a national televised singing competition and sang her peice, "Buhat Nang Kita'y Makilala" (Since I Meet You) and won a third prize. Despite of that, Regine still continues to compete more singing competitions and she never give up. By nine, she won her first Vocal Solo and Vocal Duet in their school competition. And at the early age of fourteen, Regine compete again on a national television entitled "Ang Bagong Kampeon" (The New Champion), luckily she won the Grand Champion. Awarding with her grand prize, she was offered a contract with OctoArts Recording and had her debut album.
Despite of everything she fought in the past singing competion, Regine participated an International Singing competition held in Hong Kong, ASIA PACIFIC SINGING CONTEST - a widely known for possessing an extensive vocal range artist. Regine won the Grand Champion and blew up among different countries. She sang "And I am Telling You" an Efie White originals and "You'll Never Walk Alone" by Christine Johnson with fully heart-felt-romance that gives to the audience a big applause and to the judges a huge vows by her own rendition. After the competition, media is starting to call her ASIA's Songbird.
She joined the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), an organization of Filipino singer and artist, performing music all over the Philippines.
When she guested on a variety show of GMA 7, Penthouse Live, the host suggested to drop out the name Chona and change it into Regine. As the years past, she later known as Regine Velasquez.
Viva Records, signed with contract to Regine as their artist and had her first album with Viva in self titled Regine. In 1988 she make her first concert but unfortunately, she was not given a chance to have a concert because that time one of the artist is also performing at that same day. She had collaborated with different singer locally and internationally. Throughout the year, she able to grow her career and fame and start making names in the showbiz industry.

Regine as an Actress
Aside of being a singer, Regine also plays as an actress. She had been into different kinds of role as an actress. Regine became a fatty-lady with her role as SAM SOON in a Filipino adaption of Korean Film "KIM SAM SOON". She also plays the role as a superhero, an adaptation from the film "Darna" - a supernatural heroin and many more. However, Regine still making her acting career grow more even better.
She won her first Best Actress award from STAR AWARDS (for television) in portraying a mentally-challenged woman seeking acceptance and love and got the highest-rating in all times. She also had her romantic movies that leads to the viewers fall in love at the same time.

For over a veteran in showbiz industry, Regine had collaborated with different people who gathered a good creation in music.
She collaborated with international singer such as Paul Anka, Brian Mcknight, Mandy Moore, Michel Leegrand, Coco Lee, David Pomeranz, Peabo Bryson and David Archuletta. In year 2000, she had a duet with Jacky Cheung in In "Love with You".
She had also collaborated from local singers like Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Jaya, Jay-R, Kyla, Piolo Pascual, Gary Valenciano and her husband Ogie Alcasid.
With all of these collaborations she made growth her career and enables her to be more familiarized by people.
