What I think about the video "Wrecking ball" by Miley Cyrus !

Updated on December 6, 2016

Did I like the video?

  • Well, at first I did not like the video.
  • I did not like the way she kept showing her tongue and licking the hammer.
  • I did not like it when she was nude behind the big ‘wrecking ball’ she was hanging onto.

What do I have to say about the video “Wrecking ball” by Miley Cyrus?

A lot of controversies arose when Miley Cyrus came up with her new video ‘Wrecking ball’. It was definitely what people had not expected. She was half naked showing her tongue and licking the hammer which was quite provoking.

She was the Hannah Montana of young kids. She is still loved as Hannah Montana. Youngsters look up at her. And she is young too. I guess this move was a bit too much for her. A lot of them did not like it. But this song rose to a fame. Do you think this song became popular because of the video or the song itself?

Did I like the song?

Well, definitely. This was one of the songs of Miley Cyrus which I liked. The words she spoke and the feelings expressed could be felt. From my point of view, she has tried her best to sing this song and express it in the same way.I know a lot of you are not Miley’s fans neither am I.I am just neutral.(safe side :P) I’m just saying it because I actually felt it after listening to the song few times.

What does the song say?

If we listen to the lyrics we can understand. A person who has the same feeling can definitely feel it too.

Well this is what the song tries to say. At least I think it. All of us have different perceptions. So, I would not mind if you have a different one.

The woman loved the man but there was a wall in between them. She really tried hard to break the barrier. She was not successful. On the other hand, the man did not try to save their relationship. She says “Don’t you ever say I just walked away....I put you high up in the sky but now you’re not coming down.’ It also shows that the man was tired of their relationship. He even took her love as granted. No matter what their relationship could not survive because the man gave up.

In the end, the woman was so hurt that she forgot who she was. She became crazier.Everything reminded her of him which made her cry more.

Lets move in with the video

So, this is how I will analyze the video from my part. I actually liked the director who made the video. ‘Beauty lies in the eyes of beholder’. Well at first I accept that I hated the video. But as I observed it more I started to like it. I think not only eyes are enough to watch the video but also our heart. We should see the properties used and how they are used. There are clues that expresses this song. So, this is my interpretation.

The first crying scence

“We clawed, we played.........” In this particular line she tells about how they were in love once upon a time. However, this is not shown in the video. We can see her and her tears in the first scene. This shows that she misses all the lovely times with him. The memories she has are saved in her eyes and mind which is why she is crying. She is so much in pain and tears cannot be stopped.

A ball and a wall

In the video we see a big ball and a wall. The ball is hanging which is supposed to break the wall. This is the ‘wrecking ball’ she was referring to. At least that’s what I think. Isn’t it clearly mentioned in the song?

I came in like a wrecking ball....All I wanted was to break the wall.”

She is wrecked by him

Then she comes out half naked. I guess she is like that because she has been stripped completely. She is not stripped off completely of her clothes but the woman within her. She is just half alive.

All you ever did was wreck me

She is incomplete without him. She does not care about herself anymore. She does not care where she is. Where ever she is, she knows that there is a wall separating her and her ex. She is just wrecked by the man she loved.

Short hair again

Her hair is cut short. Of course, even in her other video her hair is short. But to match with the lyrics she cut her hair.At least that's what I assumed.

I think she cut her hair because she is broken. People usually do that when they break up, right? So, this is one way of her acceptance that they are not together anymore and she wants to move on.But more than that she is in denial. That is why there are so many clues in the video. Almost all clues point out that she is desperately in love with him.

Hammer licking crazy scene- THE BEST SCENE PEOPLE MADE FUN OF

All of us have complained about her licking hammer in a provoking manner which does not look even a bit sexy. It looks gross to a lot of us. If you find sexy please comment so. It would be great to collect statistics on how many of them actually liked it.I guess that is one way of her loving him. Everything she sees around is her man. She can’t have him but she can at least pretend he is with her. haha..Who knows? She could be delusional. That is why she keeps licking the hammer.

Swinging in the ball

Also, we can see her swinging in the big ball posing nude. Well, why was that? She did that because she wants to break the wall again. Now she has nothing left. She is stripped of all she had. The only way she can be back to her real self is by breaking the walls. She is trying her best to break it. She has also used hammer and stuffs to destroy the huge wall between them.

Why did so many people hate this video?

I guess people still want her to be innocent. People still remember the Hannah Montana or may be not.Maybe we wanted a cleaner version of the video. Or maybe because some people simply don’t like her.

I guess that this video has definitely played a big role in her career. It is one of the most played songs. And all celebrities do have lots of gossips and controversies. She is also one of them. So, what's the problem? Having controversies is a part of like especially for celebrities.

She is very young. So, she is just having fun and enjoying her life. I don’t think we have to be so judgmental about her. We can be judgmental about the video because it was made for us.I don't think her video speaks what kind of person she is. In the end, she is also a normal person like us.So,lets not hate her anymore for the video she did. Of course, I won’t deny that I didn't the video at first but I ended up being neutral. Well, what’s your point of view?

Please let me know.:)

What do you have to say about the video?
