Big Bang is a Big Bang

I am one of those late-comers to the Big Bang Theory, but once I found them I have loved them. The premise of nerdy geniuses living next door to a very hot, blond waitress/actress wannabe is ripe with possibilities. I believe I have learned a ton on several theories in quantum mechanics, astrophysics, and neurobiology while laughing at these geniuses total lack of social intelligence. They simply don't know how to talk to real people and that gets them into a lot of funny situations. Suddenly I think it is cool to be nerdy and knowledgeable as well as somewhat geeky. The guys spend their free time watching Star Wars, Star Trek, and Raiders of the Lost Ark, as well as, playing D and D and an assortment of video games. Over the last 4 seasons, the genius nerds have gotten girlfriends (whether they know what to do with them or not) and the situations are often so funny. Except for Penny, the girlfriends are also highly intelligent.

Girls Mix It Up

Penny tries very hard to keep up with the conversations but often is more intelligent in street smarts and has to help them out of awkward problems. Sheldon is the most annoying of the smart guys but doesn't know how to drive. Leonard may be the most level-headed of the geniuses, lovable but very needy. Raj is the East Indian astrophysicist who is totally intimidated by women. Howard is the annoying womanizing character, one would think would end up alone, but who has found love in season 3. Amy Farrah Fowler is the girlfriend of Sheldon and is played by Mayim Bialik (better known as the TV Blossom 1990-1995) and is an actual neuroscientist. Howard's girlfriend is Bernadette, a short perky girl who gives him a reason to leave his mother. I have come to love all these characters like they are real people and couldn't imagine my life without them. I love revisiting the episodes over and over. They make me laugh every time.

Web Site

They have an official web site where you can watch the latest episodes too. Plus there is a blog there where people chat about the episode and the actors.

Theme Song

One of the things that makes a great show great... is the theme song. BareNaked Ladies (a redundant name if ever there was one) did a great job on this theme that will make it a classic for decades to come.

"Big Bang Theory Theme" is track #13 on the album Hits From Yesterday And The Day Before. It was written by Robertson, Ed.

Our whole universe was in a hot dense state,
Then nearly fourteen billion years ago expansion started. wait
The earth began to cool, the autotrophs began to drool,
Neanderthals developed tools,
We built a wall (we built the pyramids),
Math, science, history, unraveling the mysteries,
That all started with the big bang! hey

since the dawn of man, is really not that long,
As every galaxy was formed in less time than it takes to sing this song.
A fraction of a second and the elements were made.
The bipeds stood up straight, the dinosaurs all met their fate,
They tried to leap but they were late
And they all died (they froze their asses off)
The oceans and Pangea, see ya wouldn't wanna be ya
Set in motion by the same big bang!
It all started with the big bang!

It's expanding ever outward but one day
It will cause the stars to go the other way,
Collapsing ever inward, we won't be here, it won't be hurt
Our best and brightest figure that it'll make an even bigger bang!

Australopithecus would really have been sick of us
Debating how we're here, they're catching deer (we're catching viruses)
Religion or astronomy (Descartes or Deuteronomy)
It all started with the big bang!

Music and mythology, Einstein and astrology
It all started with the big bang!
It all started with the big bang!
