The Projects of Jennifer Lopez

If you feel like you are seeing Jennifer Lopez everywhere, you are not alone. Affectionately called JLo, Jennifer Lopez is a singer, television show judge, actress, and yes she's in commercials now too. She has a lot of promotional items at her side.

Does JLo risk being overly promotional with all of her different media projects?

Depending on the popularity of the items she is endorsing, Jennifer Lopez risks being overly promotional. This label could have negative repercussions on JLo's celebrity career.

JLo and American Idol

Jennifer Lopez is a movie star of the big-screen who is also taking over the small screen of television. She has just wrapped her position as one of the three judges on Season 11 of the TV show American Idol. JLo was a judge alongside music producer Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler of Aerosmith fame. Word is inconclusive whether she will return to the television show project next season.

JLo is receiving huge media attention for her part on American Idol. She receives huge money from the television show as well. Reports indicate that her salary for her one year contract is $20 million, which is a huge jump from the $12 million pay-check for Season 10. Not bad for a one season project. Not bad for promotion.

More Projects for Television

Oh, wait.

Did I mention that Jennifer Lopez has a second television series? The television show Q'Viva! The Chosen premiered in January 2012. Yes, that's the same month that American Idol aired. Coincidence? On Q'Viva! The Chosen, Jennifer Lopez is again one of three celebrity judges looking for talent. The project sounds familiar!

In Q'Viva! The Chosen, Jennifer Lopez teams with her ex-husband Marc Anthony and director-choreographer Jamie King. The Latin television series follows the three celebrities as they travel across 21 countries to find unknown talent. Lopez has the world in her sights and her fame is spreading across the continents!

Her promotion continues on television. Viewers may wonder if JLo is overdoing the marketing strategy. Would one talent-seeking television show have been enough promotion for the celebrity? Will viewers start to get tired of seeing her on the small screen?

The Logo. Promotion.

Music Projects

But wait - there's more. JLo has a new music album. The album LOVE? is available through iTunes, through a direct link on her website, and in stores for purchase. She teams with L'il Wayne for the radio hit I'm Into You and the popular dance club song On The Floor with Pitbull.

She has even combined her music with American Idol. JLo performed, more than once, on the season 11 stage of American Idol.

Jennifer Lopez is busy with projects and with promotion.

Commercials: The Projects Continue

Jennifer Lopez is also busy on the commercials circuit. With many celebrities endorsing products on television, the celebrity is not to be left behind.

Her clothing line is appropriately named the Jennifer Lopez collection. Promotion? Yes. Her clothing is found for purchase at Kohl's retail stores. As to be expected, JLo appears in the Kohl's television commercials. Her songs are also featured within the commercials. Her collaboration with the clothing chain means you are will now see her name on labels as you stroll through Kohl's stores. Perhaps her album will also be playing over the store speakers.

Let's move on to another commercial and another promotion for Jennifer Lopez. Aside from Kohl's, the singer/actress/judge also stars in television commercials for Fiat. Yes, as well as wearing her own clothing brand, Lopez also loves the Fiat 500 car. The new sub-compact car acts as the backdrop for Jennifer Lopez in her television commercial scenes.

The current ad is expected to be part of a commercial series for Fiat that airs over 2012. Yes, more promotion of JLo on television is predicted to come soon.

The Problems with Promotion

The problem with the promotion, spread over multiple projects, is that while the financial revenue from each venture may be large, support for Jennifer Lopez may begin to falter. Perhaps currently adoring fans will grow tired of seeing JLo's face and hearing her voice multiple times over the television and radio. Add in Kohl's stores and they may be taken into "hater" mode. Television viewers may grow tired of her.

As well, people may question whether JLo is simply out for the almighty American dollar. Does JLo really like the Fiat and Kohl's products or is she merely trying to increase her salary and financial worth? With so many projects on the go, people may wonder about her motives.

Jennifer Lopez risks being seen as a sell-out rather than as a celebrity who picks and chooses one or two projects to endorse at a time. She may be accused of trying to take on too big of a promotional chunk at once.

The Risk of Being Overlooked

Despite multiple methods of media exposure, Jennifer Lopez ironically risks becoming overlooked by the general public. When people see her face several times over a variety of projects, they may become desensitized to her presence. They may no longer take notice to new projects of the singer/actress/judge.

In this instance, JLo would no longer stand out as a celebrity of interest. Instead, people may say, "Oh that's just another JLo project" and barely bat an eye. She would no longer be an eye-catching celebrity. Her constant presence would blend into the background of Vanilla Ice's and child stars.

Too Many Projects?

The Celebrity Hype

Currently, Jennifer Lopez is very popular. Dare I say, "extremely"?

She has over 5,000,000 followers on Twitter alone.

So far, her fans can't seem to get enough of her. Will her promotional projects become too much for her fans and cause her to lose their support? We will see what happens... and what other products she starts to endorse soon!

Do You Think That Jennifer Lopez Is Taking On Too Many Promotional Projects?
