Rock-a-bye, baby

Updated on April 11, 2014

My best friends have grandkids and I have none. It seems that the desperation I had becoming a grandmother flew them away. I always have loved children and since very young I took care of some of my cousins which now they even have grandkids. My sister has three wonderful grandkids, which grew in a wink of an eye.

My dear husband has one of the most beautiful, happy and healthy grandkids I have seen. I wish them blessings from our Lord to protect them always where ever they are.

I do not have grandkids of my own, but I could be a grandmother for all the kids in the world, since it is about who they are for me. The Bible is my guidance and it says that: "there is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and it also says that "we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).

This hub is written from meditating on some happenings around the world about how kids are raised; and made me realize that I am not late to orientate my kids and others, about children's care. Though people are different one from each other we are similar in many ways. There is a main fact that allows us to follow some steps in the way humans develop.

Children's development

Below I share the greatness of watching and being involved in the development of a child and videos I found great to help them and enjoy each day with love.

By the time they are 4 months old

  1. recognize own name,
  2. weight will likely have doubled from birth,
  3. hands will grab for just about anything within reach,
  4. tasting is one of the ways they explore their world,
  5. can likely roll over (front to back),
  6. bear weight on their legs,
  7. sit with support
  8. pull to a sitting position

Love from the beginning

By 8 to 12 months

  1. understand simple requests such as "No" or "Don't touch."
  2. able to sit alone,
  3. pull up,
  4. stand holding on to things,
  5. jabber and imitate sounds,
  6. crawl,
  7. and wave bye-bye.

Love in the present

Turning one

  1. includes a lot of firsts, including the first words,
  2. first steps,
  3. the first birthday party.

Love till the end

Love children at all times!

Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from him. (Psalm 127:3) They learn what others are saying and doing even before birth.Perhaps they do not understand words but they sure do feel emotions such as:

  • love
  • joy
  • anxiety
  • sadness

I invite you to be responsible for our children...our children from all around the earth.

Blessings to all!
