Okkatots Travel Baby Backpack Diaper Bag

Updated on July 1, 2014

Okkatots Travel Baby Depot Backpack is the Ideal Diaper Bag for Travelling with Baby

The first time I saw Okkatots' clever Travel Baby Depot backpack diaper bag was on a Christmas-time flight to Toronto, jammed in like an overheated sardine beside a young Mom and her unhappy newborn son. We were hardly in the air when a peculiar odor filled the cabin that told everyone within seven rows that this baby needed a diaper change, stat!

I had visions of the mother fishing madly in her capacious backpack for diapers and wipes and changing pads in embarrassed chaos - but she unzipped the backpack diaper bag to reveal a miracle of organization. Everything the travelling baby might conceivably need was neatly stowed in the compartments and pockets of the bag, secure - so nothing fell out of the bag as we wriggled around in the tiny airline seat space to change the baby's stinky diaper - but everything easy to find and handy to reach. We had that little sweetie changed and settled down with a fresh bottle in no time, and the rest of the flight was peacefully uneventful.

I checked the label on the backpack, of course, and made a note. Okkatots Travel Baby Depot - one of the best thought-out travel diaper bags you'd hope to lay hands on, and now it is my top pick for active young families who travel with infants and toddlers.

American Family-Run Company - Okkatots Focus is on Practical Diaper Bags and Baby Gear for On-the-Go Families

Okkatots is a family-run company in Utah, USA, and they turn out such cool gear for young families because that's their whole focus. Okkatots concentrates completely on quality products for babies and their families. The designer is Jeanette Gray, former nurse, mother, and grandmother of six - in fact, her grandchildren are the cute babies who serve as models on the Okkatots company website.

Unpacking the Baby's Backpack bag - Video: What's in this mom's Okkatots Travel Baby Depot?

I know it's always hard to get a really good idea of what a bag is like, even with detailed photographs and description of features to help. Here's a video walkthrough of the Travel Baby Depot to help give you a better sense of whether this is the backpack diaper bag to suit your needs. It's not actually a "review" as such - this is one of those fun "what is in my diaper bag" vids - but this over-packer gives an excellent sense of the backpack's capacity and features. I think it is more useful to see how a real Mommy uses the bag that she bought for herself (not a company promo), and this video should give you a good idea.

Pockets, Compartments, Removeable Pouchs - ...and all kind of other handy features

Take a close look at the features and how the interior of the backpack is set up, and I think you'll see why I'm excited about this one. Even more than a super-organized piece of luggage for your baby, for those trips when a regular diaper bag just won't hold what you need, it really is a full-on "baby depot".
