Best Lunch Special in MexicanTown Detroit!
If you're looking for a great lunch special in Detroit, MI, Xochimilco's Mexican Restaurant is my favorite choice! For $4.50, you'll get 2 beef burritos, or 2 chicken "flautas," topped off with cheese (additional), served with a delicious serving of Spanish rice and refried beans! Not only that, your appetizer consists of corn chips, and two different types of salsa (the darker red is hot, if you're up for the challenge!). The mild salsa complements the best with the appetizer chips. Of course, my creativity kicks in, so I'll start adding the extra-hot salsa on my burritos/flautas, and drizzle a little bit of that on the rice -- makes for an extremely tasty meal! The service there is excellent--the staff members are very attentive, and they'll keep your drinks and salsa sauces refilled.
This solid meal will keep you set throughout the day. I recall being set for a good 8 hours. If you have a ton of work to take on during the day, you'll find this meal to be very solid.
There are many other selections I haven't tried yet -- they do serve Margartias, and have a ton of drink selections, but then again, I'm constantly driving around.
But seriously, I recommend trying this restaurant at least once!
For my Canadian Tourists: This restaurant is very close to the Ambassador Bridge entrance! You probably already know that once you enter Detroit, you're automatically in Mexican Town. This restaurant in particular is located on Bagley Ave., & 23rd.
Local metropolitan Detroiters and out-of-town visitors: If you happen to attend the Lions game, the Tiger's game, the Red Wings game, the Filmore Theater, this restaurant is conveniently close to the I-75 freeway, and is only a couple miles away. I recommend stopping by Xochimilco's beforehand, and I encourage you to publish your feedback on the restaurant!
Downtown Detroiters: If you want to try something out of the ordinary, the traffic-fighting is worth it! If you're on a lunch break, ordering carry-out may be your best bet. It is well worth the trip, and well worth the hassle!
This is how much I love the restaurant -- I can't rave enough about it!
