If you don’t want to have to face the stress of cooking when you get home from work in the evening, mastering the art of slow cooker cooking is one of the best things that you can do. You can prepare tasty meals that everyone in your household is sure to enjoy with very little effort when you get in the habit of using this popular small appliance.

Here are a few of the easiest slow cooker recipes you will ever find. Don’t let their simplicity fool you. Each dish tastes great, yet takes no more effort than a little planning and a few minutes of assembly before you leave the house for work or start focusing on your daily activities.

Two Simple Slow Cooker Main Dishes

Crock Pot Greek Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 2 – 3 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 6 ounces of Greek salad dressing

Instructions: Pour salad dressing into slow cooker. Place chicken in cooker. Put lid in place, turn dial to low and cook for 6 – 8 hours.

Variation: Use Italian salad dressing instead of Greek dressing to make Italian chicken.

Spicy Pot Roast

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 – 5 pound beef roast, trimmed
  • Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning to taste

Instructions: Place water in slow cooker. Place the roast in the slow cooker. Sprinkle with Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning to taste. The more you use, the spicier the meat and au jus will be. Put lid in place, turn dial to low and cook for 8 –10 hours.

Variation: Use Italian or Greek shaker seasoning mixes for a different flavor.

Two Simple Slow Cooker Side Dishes

Broccoli Cheese Delight

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of frozen broccoli
  • 1 can of condensed cheddar cheese coup
  • 1/2 soup can filled with water

Instructions:Empty the soup can into your slow cooker. Fill the can halfway with water and pour into the slow cooker. Stir to combine. Add the frozen broccoli. Put lid in place, turn dial to low and cook for 3 –4 hours.

Variation: Use frozen cauliflower instead of broccoli, or use a combination of cauliflower and broccoli. You can also use condensed nacho cheese soup instead of cheddar.

Creamy Cheesy Green Beans and Corn

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag frozen green beans
  • 1 can of whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 can of condensed cheddar cheese coup
  • ¼ cup of milk

Instructions:Empty the can of soup into your slow cooker and add the milk. Stir to combine. Place the green beans and corn in the slow cooker. Put lid in place, turn dial to low and cook for 3 –4 hours.

Variation: Use cream of mushroom soup instead of cheddar cheese soup for a more traditional green bean casserole flavor. Top the cooked dish with French Fried onions.
