Hornitos tequila and lemonade cocktail recipes
Hornitos LeMANade
- 2 parts Hornitos® Plata Tequila
- ½ part lime juice
- 1 ½ part ginger ale
- 1 ½ part lemonade
Preparation: Combine ingredients in a glass and serve. Garnish with a lemon peel or slice.
El Padre
- 1 part Hornitos® Plata Tequila
- 2 parts lemonade
- 3-4 dashes of green hot sauce
- Salt/smoked paprika rim
*Recipe yields 3 servings
Preparation: Rim shot glass with salt and smoked paprika. Mix chilled lemonade, chilled Hornitos Plata and hot sauce in mixing glass and pour into a tall shot glass.
When it's hot out, nobody wants to stand around a bar table or stove, making intricate a cocktails. Nobody craves anything heavy -- no mulled cider! People don't order rich drinks this time of year like eggnog. The flavors that are summer crowd pleasers are cold, sweet, tangy and tart.
We just celebrated National Lemonade Day on August 20th, but that doesn't mean you can't keep the fun going all throughout these sweltering days. To elevate the familiar summer drink to fun grown-up status, try adding Hornitos Tequila for a quick drink! I was happy to be hosted to experience it. Tequila is a spirit native to Mexico: where hot, sunny days are the norm.
Hornitos has several expressions and flavors of tequila; the Plata variety is a great staple to keep in your home bar, for easy mixing and pure taste. On the nose, I experienced bitter almonds, lime zest and a buttery quality. Sipping the beverage neat, I tasted almond meat, almond skin, alcohol zip, tingle on the tongue. They describe the product as being crafted from 100% blue agave, with "Floral, fruity and herbal with light citrus notes," for the nose and for the taste, citrus and agave, warming then smooth.
When people drop in unexpectedly or you want to fix something for yourself refreshing after work, you should keep a few things in the fridge to make things simple and quick.
