Easy Homemade Peanut Butter

The cookies on this hub are easy homemade peanut butter cookies. Peanut Butter Crisscrosses cookies are my husband’s favorite cookies and he makes these all the time. They are so good. You can eat them plain or add some frosting. They're good both ways.

They're also the cookies the kids look for when stopping by home.

We use to make them for the bake sale at school. I always put frosting on them. At that time, it was just white frosting. I later started decorating them especially if it's Christmas or Halloween time. They sell better. Kids love the bright colored cookies and so do mother's that are buying them. I now frost the easy way with canned icing.

I have the cook time as ten minutes. It's ten minutes per batch of cookies.

Instructions

  1. Thoroughly cream shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in peanut butter. Soft dry ingredients: stir into creamed mixture.
  2. Drop by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet, Press with the back of sugared fork to make crisscross.
  3. Bake in moderate oven 350 about 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
  4. Remove from oven place on cooling rack. When cool frost each cookie.

Hint

For Richer Cookie, Use 2 Cups Of Flour.

Another way to make them is to put the chocolate frosting between two cookies, nothing better than chocolate and peanut butter. Marshmallow Cream can be put between two cookies.

Making a rose flower for the top of your Delicious Easy Homemade Peanut Butter Crisscross Cookie Recipe.

Use the rosette tip that comes with the Betty Crocker Cupcake Icing can. Start your icing in the center of the cookie and apply pressure using the rosette tip slowly move your tip in a circle around the center point, then loop around one more time. You want to fill the top of the cookie. The frosting comes with four tips.

If your not into roses just frost the tops.

If you don't want to buy the canned icing you can use this recipe to decorate the cookies. My roses aren’t the greatest, but it gives some color to the cookies and that frosting that all kids like.

Butter Cream Icing:

1/2 cup butter

1 tsp. vanilla

5 cups confectioners sugar

3-4 Tablespoons milk

Cream all ingredients together. Add your sugar one cup at a time on low. Mix for 4 minutes until thick and creamy. Use a pastry bag fitted with rosette to make the roses.

They can be decorated for Halloween with pumpkin faces on them or Christmas with green frosting and make them look like a wreath.

Video and Link for roses.

Here's video of butter cream roses you can either put on a cookie or a cupcake or visit the link I have on the right for another tutorial for roses on cookies.

We would eat our weight in peanut butter crisscrosses growing up! Never frosted though, usually plain, but at the holidays would dip in different color sugars. Nice decorative touch yet not too sweet.

I think that these were one of my favorite cookies when I was growing up as a child however we never ate them frosted. When we were old enough my mother would let my brothers and me make the crosses on the top of the cookies with a fork before they were baked. Yummy!!! The crazy thing is that my husband does not like peanut butter cookies despite the fact that he loves peanuts and also peanut butter. Go figure! Voted up!
